2020 Vikings vs 49'ers:
The loss came with numbers that will be hard to explain away: The 49ers gained 186 yards on 47 rushing attempts, two more than the Vikings’ total count of offensive plays (45). They gained 21 first downs while the Vikings didn’t pick one up the entire third quarter and flirted with an NFL post-merger record for the fewest in a playoff game until late in the fourth. They held the Vikings to 147 yards (third-fewest in a postseason game in franchise history), and forced a Vikings team that prides itself on the run into just 10 attempts (the fourth-fewest of any game in franchise history).

The Vikings managed only four first downs in the game’s first three quarters, running for just 15 yards against a defense that beat the Vikings at the point of the attack and used fast linebackers to close off angles.
It left Kirk Cousins vulnerable to San Francisco’s pass rush as he worked to convert third-and-longs, and aside from a deep ball that Stefon Diggs turned into a 41-yard touchdown, the quarterback appeared out of phase with his top two receivers at critical moments.

Maybe Zim told his team they need to treat the first two games like playoff games? B)

Its just a bad team in areas that can't be tweaked or short term corrected. I've never seen a Zimmer team look SO shitty in back to back games.

I can't emphasize this enough: Minnesota needs to get a top 5 NFL draft pick and use it on a QB.

I initially have said no to drafting a QB because Kirk was great last year but I'm with you now, Sticky. Vikes need to get younger and cheaper on both sides of the ball. Try to get Lawrence, Fields, or Lance is the way to go. Not having a second round pick in this next draft stinks as we need to draft a DT at that slot probably. Who knows, maybe we trade Harrison Smith for a second rounder?

I have a feeling that might be on the table. They might only get a 3rd round pick for him however, he's a descending player. He'll be 32 years old next spring.

You know you have me as a fan at hello with that sentiment. But the other side of the brain says they need a DT and OL (plural) as much or more.

But maybe its time to take the few good pieces left and start a new with a fresh, young QB?? Let em sit under KC for a year and curate.

I could live with that, especially if they get a #1 overall pick, then they wouldn't have a choice.

There are so many holes no doubt. QB is definitely one of them. There is so much patchwork at the OL trying to protect Cousins but it is not working. He has to do more. Also he is not mobile, the best quarterbacks are. This should be the last extension for Cousins. The defense is also going through it now. Might as well get a clean slate and move forward. I am thinking that this could be the last of Zimmer and Spielman too.

This guy is considered a generational LT and arguably the best player in the Draft:

OT Penei Sewell, OregonThis should come as a surprise to no one, as Sewell is not only the best offensive tackle in the class, but he has a very real argument as the best player in the class. Including Trevor Lawrence. Sewell is a dominant force on the line of scrimmage. His play strength is already elite by NFL standards, and his technique is nearly flawless. He may not be an elite athlete, but he possesses more then the requisite movement ability to make every block necessary. Sewell will likely be the only player to challenge Lawrence for the number one overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

While I understand the logic, I dont link RS and MZ to the degree many here do.

I think its entirely possible Zimm is shown the door down the road and RS is not.

Maybe we toss in Rudolph to sweeten the deal Smile
