Hunter to IR.

Ngakoue and Odenigbo are still a good set of starting ends, though there will be a lot more pressure on Ngakoue to make an early impact. That also means that we likely won't be able to rotate Odenigbo inside in obvious passing situations. Is there any reason for optimism with Holmes, Yarbrough, & Wonnum? At least one of them will see significant snaps. Hopefully, Hunter can recover quickly.

Hopefully our young DB's are up to the challenge or Sunday will be a long day...  IMO, with all the new pieces on defense, our offense will need to be effective and score 28 to win...  Get it done Vikes, I don't mind eating crow!

Not sure how they can be: no preseason games and Green Bay will put in multiple WRer sets to make sure Z has to dip into his rookie group behind Hill and Hughes. Pass rush reduced without Hunter. Hate to be a downer, but it smells bad.

Personally, I think we lose by at least 10.  I just don't see how this game coming up will be any different than the last game against GB.   Maybe Dom Capers has a "new look" for the D?  My other concern is the pass protection.  I couldn't believe what the GB D did to us last game.
Hope I'm wrong, of course. SKOL!

It does indeed. Zimmer will have to pull out one of his Rodgers specials. I've never seen Rodgers more frustrated--and he gets frustrated a LOT--than he was in the final three quarters of that early game last year. They asked him what happened and he said "Zimmer happened."

With young corners and little pass rush, Rodgers will almost certainly get his. Typically, you never want to blitz Rodgers, but this might be a game to dial up a few dogs.

So will Jalyn Holmes get his first start?? Per the depth chart he is Hunter's backup. :/
I would think Yannick would play on the left and Odenigbo on the right.

I'm a bit uncomfortable with a 246-pound strongside DE, but I see Ngakoue has played the left side.

Running game has to be real effective early to keep pressure of Cousins. Defensively, I might be crazy but I think they will be fine. Definitely going to take a great effort but I think they win this one to open the season.

JMO but with no preseason, NFL passing games aren't going to be sharp. Reps, timing  and game time situation with contact just isn't the same in practice.

Consequently teams with strong running games will do better the first quarter of the season.

Last year in game Cousins threw the ball 10 times  vs. ATL. Tough to do vs. GB but I bet thats what the Vikes want to try to do.

Just a little perspective...11 days ago we were ready to go to war with our young corners, Hunter on one side and Odenigbo on the other. And I think most of us felt OK about it. All we're doing now is replacing Hunter with Yannick...and that's not a big step down, if one at all.

Would it be juicier to have Hunter and Yannick on the field at the same time? Oh hell yeah. And I can't wait for that. But let's not forget that YN was a bonus addition no one expected.
