See the Kubiak quote about Nate Stanley?
#1
Kubiak said they asked him to lose weight and he did. Also said he's 'going to be a fine player' in the NFL and he's really liked what he's seen so far.

So.....fluff? Encouraging a young guy? Or some substance behind it?

At this point he's another fine QB prospect in the Viking tradition young talent.  Heinicke, Sloter now Stanley, kinda like GB, right.

I've never understood the word "fine." It's a word whose meaning is all over the place.

Stanley is in a good spot with Kubiak to maximize his potential, whatever that might be. Maybe he works his way up to #2 or he's off the team in 2 years.

I dont know what a "fine player" means but I can tell you that he's not accurate enough to be an NFL starter. He made a lot of good throws in college, but way more WTF throws. His weapons were fine too so I dont have much of an excuse for him. As a Hawkeye, I would love to see him thrive, but I put those chances at slim

I like Stanley as a prospect. Most of the games I watched of him over the years were primarily bowl games or rivals. In those games I really liked his drive.

Accuracy is his big issue, but I’d put an asterisk on that. He makes some exceptional spot throws on time downfield. At the same time his downfield accuracy can be sporadic. At least to me, I’d describe him as inconsistent more than inaccurate. The talent is there, but he needs time. He played in a pro offense, but I’d describe it as old school from the games I watched. More heavy run to pass.
Overall as a prospect, Stanley is intriguing. He has a strong arm and overall talent to play at the NFL level. His ability to end up as a solid backup or a good starter in the league will come down to his ability to improve his downfield accuracy. Kirk Cousins and the Vikings coaching staff are an ideal situation for his development in my opinion. I hope he does well.
