So who takes over for Linval Joseph as our plug in the middle?

I don't know nearly a sliver as much as many here regarding our personnel - so that being said - Anyone know what Zimmers plan is for filling Linval's starting position? I did not see us draft anyone who fits the bill - so who's on the team now that wins the job? And should I feel confident about who that is?

we signed MIchael Pierce from the ravens in FA,  he is a plug of a human and strong as an ox.   He should play the run stopper better than LJ did last year.

Pierce to me is Linval when we signed him.  The thing is we are still missing a proven 3T to put pressure on the QB.  Really wanted them to make a move to get Gallimore or Mabiduke.

IF someone, Watts/Hercules can step up and be a surprise, this defense will be in a very good position, especially the young CB’s.

IMO PIerce will need to make an improvement to be where LJ was early on here,  Piere will be as much of  run stopper,  but I dont know that he will create as much push in pass rush that LJ was able to do a few years ago for us.

If Pierce can be the Linval of 2 years ago that would be awesome.  But even if he can stop the run like Linval did that would be enough to stop the bleeding up the middle.

I was all over drafting Elliott (Missouri) before and during the draft I thought he was an ideal 3T for us....darn he went 1 pick before us!!  I was/am bummed about that.

I am hoping we can get some good pass rush/penetration snaps from James Lynch (Baylor) our pick at 130.  Not saying he will be a starter but maybe part of a rotation.

I really wanted Elliott.  Browns grab him one pick in front of us at 88.  Oh well, can't have everything in life where would you fit it?  Or as the Stones say: "you can't always get what you want...but if you try..."
Replacement pick: DI Jordan Elliott, Missouri
Javon Kinlaw or Derrick Brown didn’t post the best pass-rushing grade among interior players against only SEC opposition — that accolade actually belonged to Jordan Elliott. He is one of the best penetrating pass-rushers in this draft from an interior alignment and did it at a very high level against elite competition. This past season he earned an overall PFF grade of 92.4 and had one of the best first steps of any pass-rusher. He’s a player PFF believed was worth a first-round selection, and the Dolphins could have had him deep into the second round.

We were stupid to take the offer from the Saints. We should have drafted our 3T at 105. After multiple attempts at trading up in the first and second, he didn't learn that teams were not interested in sliding back except the Vikings. We had our pick of Gallimore or Elliott at 105. Let's hope Lynch can come in and provide that spark along with Watts. I don't see Holmes or Johnson ever amounting to anything other than depth.

Elliott went at 88 and Gallimore went at 82.  Were you even watching the draft or too busy bitching for the hell of it?

Calm down RS Express. Yes, I made a mistake. Who I wanted us to take at 105 was either Fotu or Bartch instead of trading back as both were picked before Wonnum in the 4th. I'm over 50 now so you need to cut me some slack when my brain gets a little fuzzy at times. I was mad and bitching about not trading up in the third so you are absolutely right about that.
