True leadership
I was responding to Savannah.  I already agreed it was socialistic policy.

You missed my original answer.  The PPP loan becomes a grant IF the businesses pay the employees and keep them off unemployment for two and a half months.  The benefit is to the employees to keep their jobs in place and to live.  The benefit to the businesses is to keep employees while they aren’t working.

It costs money to retain employees without revenue even with this PPP - health and workers comp insurances, payroll taxes, etc.

The real benefit goes to the states though - less unemployment.

You would be wrong.  Unemployment benefits were extended to small business owners who lost work.  I know a handful that applied for it and got it.  If you are still making 3/4 money ... that would be the disqualifying element - not the small businesses that lost their work.  (just like employees can’t collect while still working).

The PPP has been a nightmare.  I know people that applied early and heard nothing back. Banks didn’t want to do it.

The disaster relief was a nightmare too. They changed the rules in an email I saw - tying disaster relief to payroll too.  Meaning no employees - no disaster relief.

As for the 1200 ... doesn’t change the overall discussion I was making to BigAl.  There are programs for both individuals and businesses.

Take your 1% ass outta here.  Wink

It's still socialistic policy, like military, fire and police.  I think you have economic systems and ideological systems conflated.  Socialism is not communism and capitalism is not democracy and where dose a republic fall.

And you missed my point, was the threshold achieved because of business or social needs for Jimmy.  It was subtle, but essential in a non binary world.
i disagreed with the scope of the bill to begin with.  and why does everything have to be all or nothing?  just because I am fiscally conservative and in some cases socially as well, doesnt mean i have a problem with helping those in need in a time of crisis... thats why I have been  a volunteer firefighter for 25 years,  doesnt mean I want to donate my whole life and whole pay check to helping everybody all the time regardless of real need like some are hoping for.

Exactly, I was just trying to say, there isn't one point of view and labels get in the way of accomplishment.

I have always maintained the left and right have similar goals ... they just disagree on the means to get there.

For instance - raising real wages, lowering unemployment, and increasing jobs for minorities is something both sides would agree is good.

Does the young population count for those who are pregnant now?  If you are a woman pregnant do you also get $500 for the child in the womb? Curious . .
hmmm,  what would make a person wonder this.

why not take that debate to its own thread?
Because this thread became a discussion regarding the stimulus package, who and who doesn’t qualify.

I’m an antinatalist with only hopes of adopting at some point in my life, so I am curious for those who are pregnant, do you get another $500?

No?  Then why not?

The same reason you can’t claim them as a dependent until the baby is born.

Like I said,  if you want to try and debate abortion and when life begins,  start your own thread on it.

Well, this is helpful. Yes, please do gather in protest. Shake hands. Hug one another in solidarity. And if the mood strikes, a little tongue is always appreciated.

A hospital worker that got caught up in the Michigan thing and couldn't get to work gave a great oratory on his feeling's about their protest.  This is gonna be a thing, probably similar to the Tea party, you know all those folk that were supportive of our last....
