Does the young population count for those who are pregnant now?  If you are a woman pregnant do you also get $500 for the child in the womb? Curious . .
hmmm,  what would make a person wonder this.

why not take that debate to its own thread?
I would have to think, from the GoP perspective, there is no debate.

Seriously.

Social programs to save small businesses and individuals in national emergencies.  This cannot be sustained.

Socialism has failed in other countries.

There are programs for individuals - expansion of who qualifies for unemployment, added 600 per week for unemployment to states, 1200 per person stimulus.

SBA programs are for businesses.  Disaster relief (which was tied to businesses with employees only, if available at all), and Payroll Protection Program.  The PPP hurts businesses potentially over other options.
Disagree.  (Not on socialism)

I will not get the 1200 stimulus, as I "make  too much".

I work as an LLC, independent contractor.
As such, I do not pay into "unemployment", and therefore do not qualify for unemployment benefits.  Fair enough, but that knocks-out that 600/week thingy, for me.

Actually, I'm not unemployed....but I'm 'reduced employed' by 3/4'ths, normal activity.
NOT BY MY DECISION.
The company I'm "tied to", reduced hrs by half, and reduced my remaining potential activity  by half, by the "social distancing" rationale.
(whether I'm truly an IC, llc, is an argument for another day)

Just the other day, my accountant called me to make sure I applied for the PPP, which I would qualify for.  I did.
11 separate documents, submitted.  (thankfully, my accountant did it, for a $400 fee)

Today, learned the SBA/PPP program is "out of money" and DEMS are fighting an increase.
I don't know yet, if my app got in before the 'bankruptcy', or not.

This PPP would have been my first "draw" on any social aid since my college loans, 30 yrs ago....which I re-paid, with interest X4.

Of course, this type (SBA/PPP) of aid cannot be sustained....but it's clearly a one-off.  And that's where I disagree.
Why should sitches like mine, be the only losers in a 4T government handout largesse?

If I don't get my PPP aid, cuz filed after the DEMS arbitrarily decided the program was "done".... I'll take it off my taxes.  IN FULL.
See you (whilst I'm in handcuffs)  in court.  Smile

You would be wrong.  Unemployment benefits were extended to small business owners who lost work.  I know a handful that applied for it and got it.  If you are still making 3/4 money ... that would be the disqualifying element - not the small businesses that lost their work.  (just like employees can’t collect while still working).

The PPP has been a nightmare.  I know people that applied early and heard nothing back. Banks didn’t want to do it.

The disaster relief was a nightmare too. They changed the rules in an email I saw - tying disaster relief to payroll too.  Meaning no employees - no disaster relief.

As for the 1200 ... doesn’t change the overall discussion I was making to BigAl.  There are programs for both individuals and businesses.

Take your 1% ass outta here.  Wink

Was.  And she did a very good job.

From all accounts, Linda is a very smart businesswoman.  81 to 19 approval in the senate.

What don’t you like about her?  She is a woman?  She is a Republican?  She was the President and CEO of a very successful organization?  You don’t like the product?

She isn’t in the SBA anymore.  Trump doesn’t tell states what to do.  Which side of this are you people on?

A lot of states are opening up now.

You guys will look for anything ... while
ignoring spygate and Biden’s rape and Biden withholding 1 billion in aid unless they fire the prosecutor that was investigating Hunter.

It's still socialistic policy, like military, fire and police.  I think you have economic systems and ideological systems conflated.  Socialism is not communism and capitalism is not democracy and where does a republic fall.

And you missed my point, was the threshold achieved because of business or social needs for Jimmy.  It was subtle, but essential in a non binary world.
