Fulton definitely has his advocates, but no way I take him before Terrell or Johnson. I just don't like the way he moves compared to Terrell and others. It's like Mims and Higgins. Mims is a 4.38 guy. Higgins is a 4.58 guy. That's a HUGE difference, but you don't see it on tape. If you watch their clips side by side, Higgins just moves better. He has more juice. You see him separate a little bit better. Is it footwork, body control, coordination, acceleration? I really don't have a clue, but you can see it.

With the draft approaching, University of Minnesota safety Antoine Winfield Jr. told me he recently has spoken on the phone with #Vikings director of scouting Jamaal Stephenson and with defensive backs coach Daronte Jones.

Gophers safety Antoine Winfield Jr. told me he would love to be drafted by #Vikings. “That would mean everything. I grew up a Vikings fan. I grew up around the area, so I’m familiar with it all. I was raised a Vikings fan and it would just be a dream come true to play for them.’’

I have to say I'm intrigued by Arnette and Dantzler. Both very good corners who ran very poor times in the combine. I don't believe Dantzler's 4.3 rabbit run at his pro day for a minute, but I do know there are some pretty good corners in the NFL who didn't run very fast. Richard Sherman ran a 4.56. Joe Haden a 4.57.

Arnette is one of those 'plugged in the tape to watch the other guy and he caught my eye instead' evaluations. I wanted to see what all the hype was about for Okuda, and while he certainly looks the part I don't see Top 5 CB in the League, which is what will be expected of him.

What I did see was Arnette. Making plays. A lot. I think he has legit CB2 potential and would love to land him in the 3rd.

I have a hard time taking Corner early, for like the first time in my life. After Henderson I see a bunch of dudes that are all close enough talent-wise that, when combined with where the team is at right now, I just can't take one earlier than the 3rd.

Gladney or Johnson isn't going to come in as a Rookie and immediately become CB1. Not with this truncated offseason. They're also not addressing the Defense's biggest weakness, which is getting into too many 3rd and shorts because they can't stop the run.

Hughes is a 1st. Hill would have been a 3rd without the off the field stuff. He's exactly the type of rangey kid that Scouts love so much and as BarrNone keeps correctly pointing out, Minnesota has stuck with him through thick and thin in a way that they didn't do with someone like Kearse.

Adding a veteran like Kirkpatrick would have more of an impact next year than Gladney or Johnson or Terrell. What would have more impact than that? Getting some interior prescence to stop the run and get after the passer.

I'm looking 3T, WR and OG/OT as positions that can have a bigger impact on the team next year as Rookies IF the Vikings hit on the right kids. Arnette or Hall or Dantzler or Pride can all help the CB Unit for much cheaper without having a drastic falloff from how a late 1st Round pick could.

Damon Arnette (who I've heard the Vikings are high on) a Day 2, Jalyon Johnson could get pushed further down board b/c of shoulder injury. There should be more 2nd round/early 3rd CBs taken, BUT the # of teams who have a need at CB could force more to be taken in 1st round.

Igbinoghene is another CB that the #Vikings have chatted with recently. Has first round athleticism, moved to corner in 2018. Had that ridiculous kickoff return TD vs. #Gophers in the Outback Bowl. Technique is still a work in progress after he was recruited as a WR.
