There's going to be barriers between retail clerks and the public. The post office is trying to get clear plastic barriers of some kind at all retail service counters in the country by the end of this week

I saw those at the Jerry's grocery store in Woodbury - they look like riot shields bolted to the counter. Unreal.

Will they stop the exchange of cash? I was out getting necessities for my house and my daughters apartment on Saturday morning. Only one place said debit/credit transactions only or maybe it was preferred. Don't know but it seemed like a great idea to limit contact.

i hope not. being a bartender. there is no way i want the govt knowing how much money i really make

You're exactly right...I'm a germaphobe and glad they're there.

There are elements in the government who would love to know and will not hesitate to use this as an opportunity if they can. 9/11 led to many banking regulations that make large cash transactions impossible without extensive documentation, for example.

You're exactly right...I'm a germaphobe and glad they're there. 

I do think the germaphobes are going to change how they operate in the world after this. My wife is borderline and I know she'll change a bit.

Cell phone location tracking information was one of the big tools for South Korea.  There is going to be some reexamination of civil liberties in the context of the greater good for our society.  Hope there is a good discussion not just emotional bickering.
