No Clowney or EG signings yet...

I would have thought both would have inked deals somewhere by now...

Clowney's looking for a huge payday. If I'm Griff's Agent I'm waiting until he signs and then letting the marketplace know his client can be had for X dollars cheaper. It's a great way to artificially pump up his value. And he does have value, aging pass rushers always seem to find new homes no matter what their production was the year before.

  • JADEVEON CLOWNEYDL, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT[Image: 8375.jpg]
The Seattle Times reports there's a "growing thought around the league" that free agent Jadeveon Clowney could wait until training camp to sign.Clowney hasn’t come close to the $20 million AAV he's looking for in free agency. The latest reports have Seattle offering something in the $13-15 million per year range — far below his asking price. Coming off a down season with a lengthy injury history, it's not surprising Clowney hasn't had much outside interest to this point. Even if he waits out the market, Clowney looks headed for a one-year, prove-it deal.

Clowney is talented and can play, no doubt.

Stats aren't everything, but why is he worth 20 million?

He has 1 season where he played all 16 games. He's yet to have 10 sacks in a season......

Maybe the Vikings can get him on a reasonable 1-year prove it deal like they did with Sheldon...

No way the Vikings can afford Clowney, even on a one year deal. Griff will be much more doable.

Kevin getting the band back together? Wink

Everson Griffen
DL,
Unsigned Free Agent

The Chronicle-Telegram's Scott Petrak believes free agent Everson Griffen is on the Browns' radar.
This isn't surprising given the connections to the Browns' coaching staff. Griffen was with Kevin Stefanski and DC Joe Woods for multiple seasons in Minnesota. The Browns can save $5 million from releasing Olivier Vernon and have been linked to pass rushers to book end with Myles Garrett. After opting out of his Vikings contract, Griffen may have to settle for one-year offers.

The inability to bring players in the physical is the biggest obstacle for these two. Clowney has had major injuries in the past and just had core muscle surgery. Everson had his in-season issue a year ago that most teams will want to dig into. He is doing much better now (obviously) but its more due-diligence on if he will be able to have solid footing in a new situation.

I know that reports have all but indicated that Griff is a goner, but is there any chance that he does re-sign with the Vikings? I know money is tight, but he's still a good rusher, knows the system, is a good locker room presence, and the alternatives leave much to be desired.
