Diggs traded to Buffalo
#71
Some of you guys are calling this "a haul"...seriously? I see exactly ONE premium draft pick, the first rounder (and it ain't a top 10 pick). After that we have a couple of late picks, which are a crapshoot, and a 4th rounder - next year. Great, a 4th round pick , where the Vikings have recently acquired such contributors as Jalyn Holmes, Willie Beavers, TJ Clemmings, and Jaleel Johnson. But hey, maybe we'll strike gold with that pick and get someone on the level of Ben Gedeon!
The Bills just acquired one of the 10 (maybe 5) best WRs in the NFL, only 26 years old, and will pair him with John Brown, who caught 72 passes for over 1,000 yards as a rookie. We received the 22nd pick (yay, 1 pick higher than we picked Laquon Treadwell!), and our #2 WR is now Bisi Johnson.

Unless Diggs was a genuine locker-room cancer far beyond anything reported and will melt down in Antonio Brown style within a year, this trade is a tragedy for the Vikings.

Well said. Absolutely nothing to add.

I find it more than a little ironic the Vikes trade away Diggs on the same day they extend Capt'n Kirk for a couple more years.  Wouldn't you think they'd want to surround KC with all the best WR targets available on the team?

I suspect the diva Diggs was a much bigger PITA than any of us really know, and KC probably isn't too upset to see him gone.

Speaking of Zay Jones, I would not pair him with Diggs in road game hotel rooms.

Done deal...it's over...moving on.  The window of opportunity is probably closing or maybe even closed, every team in the NFL goes through this.  The Vikings need to reload through the draft, unload huge contracts and yes, move players such as Diggs.  I follow the team and not really individual players.

@MaroonBells

This year is a different animal all together.

That being said, WR is a damn hard slot to draft for. To be honest, I like the kid from Kentucky Day 3 as a possible lighting striking again candidate.

Very fair point, but both DJ Moore and Calvin Ridley from 2018 are good receivers. 2019, yes jury is still out. I still like my chances with Ceedee Lamb and Jerry Jeudy (if we were to get one). If neither are available at 22 then select OL/DT/CB and then do the same at 25. Plenty of good receivers you can get in the second/third round too

Sigh...

Doesn't do much for my already battered disposition these days...

Talent @ Wideout like Diggs is not easy to come-by. We languished for seasons on end at the position and AT isn't getting any younger either.

The 22nd pick doesnt overjoy mer. Maybe I am underestimating it's value. Now, if this was a pick in the top 12? I might be a bit giddy even.

No more drama.
No more cryptic tweets.
No more wondering whether there's "truth to all rumors," particularly those that involve trading a receiver in his prime and questions about whether he wants out.
Yes, thank you, Courtney. My life is SO much easier now...
