Diggs traded to Buffalo
#61
I think this is a clear step backwards, because I think we were at the doorstep of an elite offense, but what are you going to do.  He wanted out.  The compensation was fine.  There exists the potential that we upgrade out of this, but we've struggled getting WRs and then we kind of got gifted two eliteish WRs.  It's not a given that we can replace Diggs with even a quality #2, and now we're pretty dependent on Thielen staying healthy.

I think deep down we are all just ashamed that BarrNone was right this whole time.

This is a VERY deep receiving class so I imagine that played a part in the trade. Like I said a month or two ago, four total playoff catches from your #1 receiver doesn't make him "great" so I'm not upset about this trade. Does it put a lot of pressure on RS to hit on both first round picks? Absolutely. Restructure Reiff, trade/restructure Anthony Harris, and then draft WR and CB/OT/DT with your first round picks, then one of the other three in the second round, and do the same in the third.

We have drafted well lately so I have a lot of confidence in the Front Office to do the same again this year. I will never forget the Minneapolis Miracle, but this trade was the right move.

Josh Allen struggled on deep passes last season - 14/63, 4 TD, 3 INT, 59.7 passer rating (27th among 32 qualified QB), with 10 of 14 deep completions targeting John Brown.
In a related story, Stefon Diggs sets world record in the helmet toss.
Honestly, Diggs can't be loving this. He's going to go full diva on Allen, watch and see. Josh is not accurate. Diggs will be highly frustrated.
God, I hope so.  Vikes did pretty well tading their #2 Diva WR.  I'll miss his big play ability, but not all of his BS.  He's no AT that's for sure.

I am shocked since they were truly not planning to move him. But there are packages that are sometimes too good to pass up. 2 picks in the top 25 will go a long ways.

Although they eat the dead money this season this lets them stay active in FA this off-season and move some money into 2021 without repercussion.
To be honest, I'm not shocked in the least. If you go back to Rick's comments about Harvin, he used almost exactly the same syntax when talking about Diggs.

Listening closely, he practically announced he was trading Diggs at the Combine.

That being said, I was hoping we'd trade him to Vegas and be in the running for Jeudy or Lamb.
I think Breer's tweet from this morning helped me understand how quickly this happened. They really didn't start talking with Buffalo until yesterday afternoon. So truth be told, Spielman wasn't really lying at the combine.

Hopefully the hamstring issues won't be an issue for Adam Thielen. We'll have to wait and see on that. I also hope that the offense continues to evolve. But they still need OL help no matter what weapons they have.
