So, so tired of this COVID horseshit. Tired, brothers and sisters.

Think we'll ever talk about Viking football again?

Hopefully TC will start as scheduled and we can actually start thinking about & discussing football again. I too have Covid exhaustion.

OK Sticky, let's talk Vikings football then. Where do you want to start? Me, I'll start with this....extend Zim and Rick now. This franchise is more stable than it's been in quite some time, and it starts with them. Especially Zim.

I recently started following Justin Jefferson on Instagram and am really impressed with what I see. Granted, no one is defending him and it's all scripted but the routes and breaks look good. That being said, this morning while working out I started thinking about Irv's jump this year and what his production may be. I really think he takes a major leap forward this year and has some solid production numbers.

I think the toll of this contagion is becoming more evident everyday...On one end of the spectrum its young and dumb with covid parties and its making people cranky for all sorts of legit reasons.
On the other end are graves, small funerals and tearful goodbyes. I just read that the Ivy League cancelled all fall sports. I dont know how in the hell we're going to have football this fall. College or Pro. If we do it's certainly going to be like nothing we've seen before.

Ivy League has cancelled all fall sports and the way the positive tests have been piling up around many of the major college teams, the rest of the conferences may not be far behind. If I were to put odds on it, I would say there is probably a less than 20% chance we see the NFL this year. We will definitely know more once MLB and NBA try to start up. U.S. now has I/4 of the world's cases, that is insane and embarrassing that we are still peaking, consequently, it doesn't look good for any kind of normalcy returning to sports.

If the rest of the world is only testing on symptoms (like the US was doing originally) and the majority of the positive tests in the US being asymptomatic, then it stands to reason that the US doing tons of blinds tests regardless of symptoms would be showing much worse than the rest of the world and even worse than what we were showing early on when they were only testing on symptoms. I dont think its really as bad as it was months ago, its just how the testing and reporting has changed. yes there are upticks in certain areas in cases and even some areas with hospitalizations, but those areas werent hit hardly at all early on so they are just going through what NY and other areas had already went through and it was inevitable that it would happen. A month or so from now those areas will be fine and we will be enjoying our football fireside chats as the sun sets earlier and the evening air cools to remind us that once again the grid irons will be open for business.

I think we should use this thread to discuss football and football only...meaning not discussing whether or not it will happen this year. I'm with Sticky where I want a thread that solely discusses our team and the 2020 season. That being said, I for some reason cannot decide if I want Zim and/or Rick extended. I think both do a good job but can we do better? Yes. Do we sign the right guys if we move on and win that coveted Super Bowl? I have no idea. I would hate to let their contracts expire and then we experience the "You dont know what you've got until it's gone".

Quote: @Hawkvike25 said:I think they need another year after this one.... nothing will be gleaned from a year that is going to be as F'd up as this one is with no offseason work, limited training camps and preseason games, and now I'm hearing teams may have to cut to a 75 man roster before they even get to camp (which IMO is dumb as fuck considering teams will suffer Covid losses during the season and will need a deeper pool to pull from this of all years they should be looking at expanding the 53 to at least 65, and making rookies exempt from roster cuts, or at least expand the practice squad by double, since they really never got a legit opportunity to showcase their talents.

I can't remember a coach having had to deal with so much as Zim has, and he's still been pretty successful here. That alone would make me want to give him an extension. The grass isn't always greener on the other side, folks.
