I've read that the Vikings could pull as much as $12 to $15M from their cap number if they extend him. Sorta doubt they will pull out that much (can kicking), but a good $6 to $8 will help a lot.

I do think that will be the sticking point.  If I'm the Vikings, I'm not doing another fully guaranteed deal.  We showed him the love when we signed him, now Cousins needs to show the team some love and take a deal that gives the Vikings some flexibility to keep good players around him.

If he wants another fully guaranteed deal, trade him now.  Shanahan wants him in San Francisco, work out a deal where we get Jimmy G and exchange some draft picks for Cousins.

A cap relief extension would be a good thing. Be nice if they could draft Hurts and let him sit a couple of years and curate a bit. I wonder how much extensions for RS/MZ play into drafting a QB or not?
