Bernie and Biden Breaking Away...
#1
Biden and Sanders are breaking away from the pack of candidates among Democrats nationwide, Washington Post-ABC News poll finds
Former vice president Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), whose candidacies embody competing wings of the Democratic Party, have emerged as the leaders in the contest for their party’s presidential nomination, according to a Washington Post-ABC News national poll.
The findings come little more than a week before the first votes of the 2020 campaign will be cast in Iowa’s precinct caucuses, where there has been a spirited contest involving not only Biden and Sanders but also Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and former South Bend, Ind., mayor Pete Buttigieg. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and entrepreneur Andrew Yang both hope to spring a surprise on the others on caucus night.

Based on past campaigns, the Iowa results will have an immediate impact on the overall shape of the race and on public attitudes, nationally and in individual states that immediately follow the Feb. 3 caucuses: New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina.Post averageof recent New Hampshire polls shows Sanders and Biden virtually tied, with Warren and Buttigieg not far behind.

the DNC has chosen Biden.  Since they basically fix their presidential primaries Sanders will again come up short to another old white millionaire.  course Sanders is an old white millionaire too.

Can you imagine the comedic relief  when Trump and Biden say the stupid stuff they both say over the next half year.

i think that choice will be determined by the VP choice of each

if i had to bet it would be

sanders-warren (wealth tax progressivism)
biden-yang (ubi pragmatic)

I don’t really understand what the democrats are doing.  I just don’t see how Biden is a viable
candidate, but it seems like they are pushing for Biden with Warren as the fallback
plan.  I think Sanders is clearly their
strongest candidate, but they look like they’re trying to push him out like they
did in 2016.  Biden as their candidate
would be a horrible choice.  He’s like
all the bad qualities of Trump, but without any of the good qualities.  I just can’t imagine the Democrats coming out
to vote with a high enough turnout to win after a year of ads showing Biden
constantly sniffing little girls hair, showing all his verbal gaffs, bragging
about his Ukraine corruption, etc.  It’s
like everything Trump is accused of, but with videos that people relate to.

I also don’t foresee a Biden Yang ballot.  It feels like the democratic party is being
split into an old guard-establishment faction and a more progressive faction,
with the establishment group controlling the party and basically just playing politics,
but not really appealing to anyone, and the progressive faction not really
getting a fair shake despite being both more appealing to some democratic
voters and scarier to others.  Yang seems
too progressive to be lumped in with Biden.

I dont know that being split is unique to the Dems,  I have to think 2024 is going to bring a list of Republican candidates that will look and act very similar to what the Dems are dealing with right now.  you will have the old guard and all the money that goes along with it,  and some more moderate types that will try and pull a Trump and get votes from both parties, but wont have the money or backing that Trump has had.

Trump may not indeed drain the swamp,  ( honestly that isnt something that is up to him...that is on the voters shoulders )  but he is certainly going to create some white caps on that sucker.

Buttigieg is the most compelling candidate imo.  But would struggle with the black vote.

Warren and Biden have serious defects.

So I will predict Bernie.

as Im not a registered Dem I dont even have to look at the candidates until the Dems pick one.  This is going to be a long enough political year as it is so I am kind of grateful that SD doesnt have open primaries and that there are no other candidates for me to have to try and listen to.   Once the Dems have made their selection I can weigh their option vs Trump and go from there.
