I can't agree that adding offensive weapons is a major requirement (Oline is where improvement in talent is required IMHO) but I do agree with this statement: "Whomever replaces Stefanski needs to be prepared to modernize the Vikings approach to early-down football."  Unfortunately, I don't think Zimmer is on board with this.

I don’t think that we really need to modernize our offense
in the sense of passing more.  I think we
did a great job at the two things we were good at (outside zone and PA Bootleg
and Rollout passes based off the outside zone), I think what we do need to
improve is diversifying our offense, such that when defenses are able to take
away the outside zone and PA Bootlegs, that we can exploit that to our benefit.  It really seemed that good defenses could
have a 5 man line which would always give them enough guys to clog up the
running game and keep Kirk from rolling out against the grain.  They dared us to pass and we couldn’t do it.

I would have loved to see what our offense looked like if
they replaced one of the skill players with a 6th lineman and gone
really heavy or with stretching out the field with more WRs.

But we just need to develop enough depth to counter whatever
a defense can do to take away our primary offense, and it starts with replacing Elflein with someone
who’s a plus level LG.

As the Viking Dline has declined so have the cornerbacks.

Watching the SF OL and DL versus the Viking OL and DL is where I saw that game was won and lost.
