A good coordinator and a really great dude. I wish the guy the best. He's awesome. If people don't know, he's got a great sense of humor.
p.s. he just released a statement saying he wants to continue coaching.

It's kind of interesting that Phillips gets the axe when it was the offensive regression that hurt the Rams this season. They actually improved on their defensive stats this year getting to 13th in yards allowed and 17th in PPG to go along with 24 takeaways.

WADE PHILLIPSC, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT Rams fired DC Wade Phillips. At one point considered the veteran presence behind coach Sean McVay's offensive-minded leadership, this shakeup was inevitable once the Rams fired Bill Johnson, Phillips' defensive line coach, without first consulting the longtime DC last year. Los Angeles ranked No. 9 overall in defensive DVOA in '19, an improvement on their No. 17 finish the previous year during their Super Bowl run. Joe Barry is rumored to be among the list of candidates to fill Phillips' shoes given the former's previous stints as an NFL DC. Whatever the case, Phillips will undoubtedly be scooped up quickly, perhaps behind another young and bright play-calling mind. RELATED:
