With Leatherwood Returning, And Kinlaw Probably Out Of Reach

Summary - Mekhi Becton projects as a starting left tackle at the NFL level — and a damn good one. Becton has all the length and functional power in the world, pairing it with a rare blend of flexibility and size. Becton is a brawler in the run game and his pure size overwhelms many pass rushers off the edge. There are still some technique consistencies to still be ironed out but generally speaking the ceiling here is sky high and there's a foundation that should allow early production at LT.

Since we are likely to lose at least one of not two CBs, in the second...

Player Summary - Jeff Gladney projects as a starting cornerback at the NFL level. His versatility in man and zone coverage alike will serve him well and will allow him to be a fairly universal prospect. Gladney's foot quickness and ball skills would be best served in defenses featuring a high implementation of man coverage. Playing him in a primary Cover 3 is probably the only role where his best qualities would be consistently mitigated. Gladney's football IQ should yield early dividends to his NFL team.

The eventual successor to the Big Goon with our first third.

Leki Fotu is a late Day 2/early Day 3 candidate for a team looking for a penetrating 1-technique rusher. Fotu has excellent explosiveness for a player of his size and can accordingly win quickly off the snap when aligned in a gap or head-up on the center, with strong hand usage in his rush moves and enough quickness/tackle radius to finish in the backfield. His stiffness and uprightness, however, limit him as a two-gap player despite having the ideal length/strength, and his struggles to cross face and work into backside gaps limits him to a penetrating role in the NFL. Fotu is ideally a rotational player in Year 1 with the ability to take over a starter's role by Year 3 as he continues to develop a pass-rush profile.

Then another CB and returner with our second third

Holmes projects best as a boundary corner in off man coverage. Holmes' stature is probably best suited for the nickel but some pedestrian tackling enthusiasm suggest he'd thrive more in a true cover role. His foot quickness and acceleration skills provide him ample opportunity to click and close on route breaks and he shows good ball skills from the trail position. He's very physically gifted but must go to a proper scheme or get a fire lit under him to play more physically.

Another potential LT @ 26

AUSTIN JACKSON   #73   OT   USC   6’6/305  Jr    IMO, this is the best OT prospect to come out of Southern Cal since a guy named TYRON SMITH was a first rounder for the Cowboys and started a run of LT Pro Bowl appearances. JACKSON is bit less physically imposing than SMITH, but shows the potential and athleticism to excel at the next level. He is equally adept at run blocking and pass-pro. I feel like his match-up against Iowa DE A.J. EPENESA was one of the best one-on-one match-ups of the Bowl season. JACKSON has shown flashes of a mean streak, but plays under control. I would rate the matchup against EPENESA as being a draw at the end of the evening. A.J. seemed to have the edge late in the game, but USC was playing catchup and throwing almost exclusively. EPENESA took advantage of that and wore down JACKSON. JACKSON does look to have very long arms like his predecessor SMITH, but he’s not nearly as strong… yet. If he comes out, I look for JACKSON to be taken in the first half of Round One and be a plug-and-play Rookie.

Thanks for continuing to post these.
Unless Herbert or a legit QB1 prospect falls, I'd love to hear an OT name called first. CB next makes sense too.

I'm hoping we go OL first round, but I fear we go CB.
