OT: RIP David Stern
#1
I met David Stern at the wedding of a mutual friend in Breckenridge about 10 years ago. It's funny to think about now, this son of a TV repairman and the commissioner of the NBA hanging out, sharing a drink and a laugh, but we did. We actually talked quite a bit. Mostly about basketball and menswear. I got the feeling he didn't much respect my knowledge of basketball, but did my knowledge of menswear. I mentioned the Vikings and he talked about how much he loved purple ties. So that's my David Stern story. Good man. Funny. Good for the NBA.

Here's another good take...

Very well written.

Strong case can be made for him being one of the greatest commissioners in American Pro Sports.

This from someone who's loathed the NBA game since the curtain dropped on showtime.

He certainly did a lot to promote and advance the game.

The manner in which he suspended Michael Jordan, for a year and a half, was a shrewd move.
