How concerned should Vikings be with recent cornerback play?
#1
Very...

Overall Pro Football Focus grades them the 62nd and 70th of 79 corners in the NFL. In terms of rating against, Waynes is 53rd and Rhodes 71st.
Here’s how that compares (in rating against) to the last three seasons.
2016: Waynes — 18th, Rhodes — 1st
2017: Waynes — 42nd, Rhodes — 21st
2018: Waynes — 45th, Rhodes — 33rd
2019: Waynes — 53rd, Rhodes — 71st
Yuck!       Note, there’s a lot more in the article, I had to go blow lunch...! Confused

Holy shit. The Vikings only blitzed a journeyman backup QB missing his LT and RG 7 times? What, was he afraid of giving up chunk plays or something? Oh, wait. They did give up several chunk plays.

I can't for the life of me figure out what the hell his Defensive strategy was on Sunday. Hope it was just a bad day at the office.

Besides  Hill, Hughes and Alexande
missing  time,  and rule changes of last year,  why is this unit average?

Waynes and Alexander are in contract years........

Given the investment of draft picks, and the amount of time they have had to develop, "major concerns"   seems legit.

Somethings not right.

They play too much zone. They don't get enough pressure on the QB to help them out.

I think they are playing more off coverage than they used to.   This helps in run support but it really puts the DB at a disadvantage for pass breakups and interceptions,  and certainly doesnt help the OL since the QB can hit a lot of soft stuff quickly if he feels any pressure at the snap.
