The past drafts have shown that they do not work out all the time for various reason. CP84 and Treadwell (so far) were due to not being able to translate their talent to the NFL. Floyd was due to injury. Obviously you know all of this but I think it is overrated.
It would make sense if Cousins' camp was the one floating these rumors... trying to drive his price up.

Cousins is my top choice, but I just dont see the Vikings breaking the bank to get him and Denver will try to clear cap to do just that. IF Cousins really want to win now @ 29, it won't be with Jets.
I think their back-up would be to sign Keenum to a reasonable deal for both sides if some team doesnt back the Brinks truck up for him. Then let the Sloter watch begin.
I just dont see Bridgewater or Sam with the Vikings again...Which means they'll both be in Eagan in August.
out of curiosity... if the broncos were really going to make a run at captain kirk, wouldnt we be hearing about them making cap clearing moves by now? i would think they would be trying to trade some guys to open cap space instead of just cutting them. Of course they could be working behind their curtain to renegotiate contracts to make the cap space available (and maybe they already know where the money will come if they are able to land him?) just seems awfully quiet with 2 weeks to go if they are really going to be strong in the hunt.

Yabbut, what if you cut this player and that, only to have Cousins choose another team?
Broncos have probably already identified the moves they would have to make in order to afford Cousins, but they won't make those moves until they have to. They'll get a pretty good idea of what Cousins is looking for at the combine, and then a definitive amount on March 12th, when legal tampering starts. They don't have to be under the cap until 4 on the 14th. And if I'm thinking about this correctly, they can release players after that date to accommodate the salaries of players they're still negotiating with.

Teddy is still my choice for long-term QB. If I were GM, this would be over. I would sign both Sam and Teddy for about half of what it would cost to sign Cousins. I would then sign Sheldon Richardson and draft a RT and prepare for 19-0.
My 2nd choice is to sign Cousins to a 3-year big ass deal...and prepare for 19-0, followed by losing a few of our core players a year later, and watching Sam light it up next year, and Teddy become a top 10 QB a year later.
My 3rd choice would be to sign Case Keenum to an easy-out Glennon-like deal. He's a good fit for what Flip wants to do (as is Teddy, as is Cousins), but with Case there's always going to be that doubt. That perceived ceiling that will follow him into every playoff game.
The only thing I know for sure is that NONE of this is settled yet...

The media's idea that the Vikings will go all in for Kirk Cousins is somewhat exaggerated. It ultimately will come down to Kirk's own feelings, which teams don't know. The Jets are going to be very aggressive financially and the conversation is going to be how much less money will he take to go into a winning situation? Nobody knows that answer and they won't until he ultimately makes one.
Next, the Vikings have not made a 100% decision on Keenum. They aren't going to franchise tag him but they are still pondering the idea of putting the transition tag on him. The conversations they have this week at the combine will have a lot to do with it. Would I call it probable? No. But it definitely hasn't been taken off the table to this point.
When it comes to Teddy, the Vikings want him back. He's healthy enough to play but he's not as healthy as a lot of fans think he is. When you're coming off a dislocated knee its going to take time. Zimmer has said it, Spielman has mentioned it, etc.. Bridgewater is going to be surprised in his market. As Spielman said today, the Vikings know him and his knee the best.
To me that really sounds like Teddy is a ways away - but they'd like that 2 QB battle - and we have a limit (26M?) on what we will spend on Kirk... Its funny how Sam's name isn't ever mentioned. Is he really "off the table?"
I'm trying not to get tooooo excited about QB's because it is still a few weeks from FA time, but I am REALLY wanting to know who our QBoF could be!?! Without FB the weekend's are getting boring.

thats interesting, I really havent heard anything but positive reports on where Teddys knee is at physically. If he isnt fully functional then that changes quite a bit IMO including if he is even going to make it back. not to many injuries with a recovery time exceeding 1 year allow for full return.
