And what so many of you fail to understand conversely is that some feel its not this gigantic injustice that Sloter isn't getting #2 reps. It isn't personal, it isn't some conspiracy, it isn't Zimmer being stubborn, it isn't dislike for Sloter, its just that its pretty obvious the staff doesn't feel he deserves them and its better served giving Mannion them.

It other words, its just a little fan drama and much ado about nothing. Which is exactly what it is. Its ok, we all root for the same team.
No, it's not personal, it's not a conspiracy, it's not Zimmer being stubborn. It's just stupid. But that's just my opinion. I think he should've gotten reps with the 2's in the interest of discovery, analysis, evaluation...prudence, etc....the way Belichick gave 2nd team reps to his QB3 last week. It makes sense; it really does.

Now, I know that sounds like I'm not giving credit to the coaches who see him in practice every day (Kubiak, Stefanski, etc. coaches for whom I have a lot of respect), but the idea of a "gamer"--no doubt a very REAL thing in sports--renders all of that irrelevant.

Doesn't mean I think Sloter should get fitted for his gold jacket (saw that one on twitter). Doesn't mean I think he's a future franchise QB, or even a starter. Doesn't even mean I think he should be promoted to QB2 over Mannion. These are what's called "straw men." (I don't say this for your benefit, but for the benefit of those who don't have access to the political board and see them 16 times a day, a "straw man" is when you exaggerate your opponents' position to such an extreme as to make it sound ludicrous, and your argument against it, sound reasonable...logical.

More than anything, that's what's behind most of this nonsense.

So Jimmy you know more about QB's and who the backup should be than Zimmer and the coaching staff? The backup has to be able to read defenses and cues and help the coaching staff change the gameplan accordingly. Zimmer has stated several times that is something Sloter needs to get better at. Zimmer feels like Monion is better at #2....but I'm sure you know so much more about it than Zimmer, after watching a few quarters of Sloter playing vanilla preseason games with guys who could be unemployed by the end of the day, your clearly more up to speed than the coaching staff who see every practice, classroom, game time, off time and more.

And I disagree that the Sloter lovers won't quiet down. Once this is settled today, the only time Sloter will be brought up again will be if/when Cousins get hurt, and God forbid the whole offense is in trouble if we have to finish the season with either Manion or Sloter. If a big injury happens, I would look for the vikes to make a trade for a QB with more experience.

Sloter lovers will quiet down, until next preseason. Heck, they have already quieted down alot since he threw the pick Thursday night.

And they’ll release him if they can’t find a partner

With less than two hours to go before the NFL-mandated roster deadline, the Minnesota Vikings are, reportedly, trying to deal a fan favorite.

Numerous sources on social media are reporting that the Vikings are attempting to trade quarterback Kyle Sloter, and that if they can’t find a partner by the 3:00 PM Central deadline, they will release him.

Sloter has put up very impressive numbers in the past three preseasons, the last two of which have come with the Vikings. However, the Vikings appear committed to keeping Sean Mannion as the primary backup to Kirk Cousins, and they are reportedly hoping to get Jake Browning on to the practice squad after waiving him earlier today.

This also means that the Vikings are, apparently, content to go with two quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, which is a departure from what most Gary Kubiak offenses have done in the past.

We’ll obviously be keeping an eye on this one, as we’re at about an hour and 45 minutes before NFL teams need to have their rosters set. We are tracking all of the moves on our roster tracker right here.

I literally can't believe how much I agree with you. Which is surely one of the 7 Signs of the Apocalypse.

Stay safe in Florida my friend. It's been decades since I dealt with a hurricane  and don't miss that part (or the bugs and mutant ducks) at all.

All that bullshit that you say is a plus for mannion makes me wonder what the fuck they have 10 offensive coaches for.

Nice condescending  tone by the way,  keep that in mind next time you disagree with anything the coaches or a player does.  I'm sure you never have differing views on anything.  And since quite a few fans are in agreement with me,  is it a stretch to question a coach that needs to bring in an assistant HC after 4 years in the league?  Or one that hasn't been able to find a kicker that doesnt go to shit?  Plenty of reasons to not go blindly along with shit just because Zimmer says so.

If Zimmer and staff were so great at evaluating QB talent, we wouldn't have given Cousins 84 million.  Just cause they guys make a decision, it doesn't make it right.  They get it wrong more often than not, which is why we have had little success in the Zimmer era despite a lot of talent on the roster.

Ok Jimmy. You know more than all the coaches many years of experience. Kukiak has been in about 7 super bowls, Zimmer was in at least one....

Sloter is a RAW TALENT. He excelled in a very vanilla defense in preseason against 3rd and 4th stringers, most of whom are being waived today, yet you see Tom Brady. I see Joe Webb, Christian Ponder and more preseason.

I love this team, but we sure have some hard-headed 3rd QB loving people here. There is so much more to being a QB that what Sloter has shown. He can't read a defense (see Ponder), he has poor clock management, and hasn't shown the coaches he has the ability to learn it in practice.....I'm surprised we are cutting him, but since we are the second team to cut him, maybe he isn't the next Tom Brady and he really is the next Joe Webb?

I wouldn't be surprised if he is waived and not claimed by anyone.....

are you looking to win some points by making that statement repeatedly?  I may not know Xs and Os like a professional coach,  but a blind man can see that Zimmer doesnt necessarily make the best personnel decisions in how he has handled certain players... apparently a blind fan cannot.

Sloter is cut for second team in 3 years (if it is true he will be cut)..........yet you see the next coming of Tom Brady, who was never cut.......hmmmmm, I think I'll go with the NFL talent evaluators who see all apsects rather than an arm chair QB who see a few quarters of vanilla preseason games.

I see a raw talent that needs more time, hardly someone I want an injury away from leading my vikings.
