What's with all the Harrison Smith hate?  Like I've read more than a couple posts saying he needs to go... It started in the off-season and now pops back up. Like WTF?  Guy has been a hell of a leader in his time here and played well this season.  I think it's kind of shitty to lump him in with other underperforming vets.
i dont think its hate,  just the fact that he is older, has a big cap number, and is not playing at a level that we have expected from him.... but given how insanely stupid our D scheme was... is that on Smith or the nearly departed donatel?
What was wrong with his play this year?  5 INTs (tied his career high and this is the 4th time he's had 5 INTs in a season), 10 PDs, and a FF.

He's a versatile defender and can play deep and make plays behind the line of scrimmage.

Like I'm fine if you want to argue age and cap number, but his play hasn't dropped off from past seasons.

he is getting a step slow,  he is still a good center field safety on deep pass plays,  but getting to the sidelines on passes as well as his play at the LOS has slipped IMO... I am a huge fan of Harry,  but even I will admit that he isnt the player he was a couple years ago from a speed and strength standpoint.  still a damn good player,  but if you are going to a youth movement and are over the cap anyway,  how much can one afford to pay for a player in their twilight years of their career?  Once the field gets condensed ( red zone) and he doesnt have to range as much and can rely on experience and instincts... IMO there are few better,  but he isnt covering ground like he once did.

This defense is the worst I have ever seen. Simply pathetic.
Hopefully you posted this in the first quarter.

a couple of interesting stats...  our D was only .3 PPG worse this year than last year, and while the O was lauded all year for their efforts,  they are actually .1 PPG WORSE in 22 than they were in 21.

both sides of the ball averaged about 25 points per game

Well,

Somebody is responsible for

13/4 vs 8/9

Most likely not _onatell though  :p

its an odd shaped ball,  it bounces in funny ways,  some days those bounces work for you,  some days they dont.

also,  players had pretty much given up on zim last year,  but this year everybody had a fresh spring in their step,  the smallest of changes resulted in a big shift in results... however I dont think small changes are going to fix some of the bigger issues we faced this season.
