0-2.

Try again.

Hint: 5 games allowing 3 points  after half is kinda important.
Patriots have averaged almost 30 ppg this season with a rookie QB.

In the past 5 games, the Patriots have scored 14 (in a tsunami), 36, 25, 45 (against the Browns who we couldn't even score more than 1 TD), and 24 points.  Much easier for a defense to play with a big lead.  So quit acting like if we had the Patriots defense, we'd be a great team.

We've seen Kirk with a strong defense in 2018 and 2019 and we won 8 games and 10 games...  he had 2 stud WRs and Dalvin too...  but keep dreaming if he just had this or that we'd be really good!!!
Ok, how about this:

Kirk's OL last season was rated something like 28th or 29th, and I haven't seen it higher than 24th this year.

Brady's is typically rated about...3rd.  Hovering around the top 10 are Dallas, LA Rams, Eagles, KC, even Cleveland.  New England and Green Bay are 11th and 12th in the last ratings I saw.

So, compare that to being perennially protected by the bottom quarter of the league, in terms of rankings.  With Darrisaw out, I promise the rating slipped.

When people talk about Kirk's line issues being an "excuse" and compare his production (which, typically, doesn't suffer too badly) with players getting FAR FUCKING SUPERIOR BLOCKING, it reinforces my statements that Kirk hatred comes from excessive crayon chewing and paste consumption.

This message brought to you by the functional people!

Is Kirk the biggest problem on this team? Heck no! Not even top 5. But that doesn’t mean he’s the solution.

Many of the people defending Kirk now are the same people who were swearing up and down just last offseason that the roster was in great shape, we’d win the North (over the 26-6 the past 2 seasons Packers…), and that Zimmer will figure it out now because last year was covid’s fault. I respect the optimism I genuinely do, or I wouldn’t keep coming back here to read all of your thoughts, but hopefully you’ll forgive some of my skepticism.

You might all be right about Kirk and if I’m wrong and he sets the world on fire next year and the Vikings are an actual, real-life SB contender than I’ll be the first to admit it. But if I had to bet, I think by next offseason most fans will be off the Kirk bandwagon just like most are finally off Zim’s now. Time will tell. If I had my druthers the Vikings wouldn’t waste another season getting to that point. But hey what do I know. Just win football games. Please.

I defend Kirk partially because I'm dumbfounded by the weekly trade rumors, the insistence that he's worse than he is, and because he's quietly and consistently becoming one of our best-ever QBs despite shit protection and new OCs practically every season.

Again, bottom quarter of the NFL line protection...since he got here.  What could he do with even a mid-pack line?  He's got some gaudy stats despite being mauled on a constant basis, and doesn't miss games.

I hardly think it's unreasonable to point out, when comparing him to "elite QBs", that his results get pretty close with less protection...which makes the premise of this thread truly fuggin' ridiculous.

Yep. His stats are good because he’s good. No one “hates” Kirk. Idk why that word is a thing around here but I’ve never seen anyone say they hate him. He’s good!

By your own chart Mac Jones (who I think you were dumping on in another thread yeaterday) is also good. So is Tua. So are a lot of guys who might have different intangibles than Kirk that help their team to win football games. Maybe it really is as simple as, “give him time and he’ll produce,” but if the Vikings can’t give him time then what use is that? I’m personally just ready to try someone new back there. Just my opinion. What we have and what we’ve been doing is not working.

Dumping on Mac Jones? I have no fucking idea how you came up with that. He's been the benefactor of a D that has given up 3 points in the second half of the past 5 games.

Okay fair enough, I mistook your meaning on Mac. My bad. But my point is there’s plenty of good QBs going off of your chart. I’m ready to shake things up.

His contract doesn't leave us enough cash to buy off some officials and build a better portfolio of big wins, so here we are. :p
