Sorry for the hostile tone, was not my intent. I do find this "debate" rather perplexing. Case has a career best performance on the road, outdoors on grass. The organizations best performance from a QB since 2009. It's Monday the day off for the players, zimmer has just reviewed the game film. 8 mins into the PC and the question comes "Is Case going to start this week"? Why is that question being asked in the first place? What more from Case would warrant that question? The Vikings were up by 18 points on the edge of field goal range and the bad pass/Interception came. They didn't go into conservative mode after that interception either. Why? Zimmer addressed that earlier in the PC about playing with a lead, game was in hand we need to do a better job ( meaning the offense, Shurmur is calling the offense) Zimmer even says Case played good those two interceptions were bad he says but the rest of the game he was good. I highly doubt Zimmer has been waiting for Teddy to be ready to play for his chance to put him in the lineup. If he has then after the first horrible interception would have been a good opportunity, the second one as well. The Vikings continue to push the ball after those two plays as well with Keenum. Still nothing to warrant pulling case, and nothing to warrant benching him.
8 mins into the PC zimmer gets asked "Case going to start this week"? he pauses staring "I don't know I haven't talked to anybody this week, I'll wait until wednesday" keep in mind this is Monday I don't believe players are around? know I don't know when the game plan is implemented and honestly a lot can happen between Monday and Wednesday in terms of injury, zimmer is keenly aware of this. But again why is this being asked?
and Zimmer is not known to give out information that he dosen't have to. He could have squashed this "debate" right then and there, but it's to the teams advantage to have others(teams) guessing what they will do. The next question comes and it's about Sam Bradford or it's a further question about Case but prefaced with Sam Bradford and Zim's relationship with him. You can see Zim get irritated with the preface, after all Bradford has been a "non issue" for awhile. But Zim is candid with talk about case and his relationship he does say he won't say what he told him to today which indicates players are around, then a few questions about Adam Theilen and then "time for 2 more" reporters jump over each other "mike, you said you haven't spoken to anybody about who the starter will be, "Do you know? who the Starting QB will be? comes. if you think about it that's really a bad question to ask, it's kinda like challenging Zimmer "yes" he says quickly and curtly then turns away from that reporter when the follow up comes "would you like to tell us"? and the look on Zimmers face I'm surprised he didnt swear at him. Zimmers tone are expression changes "Why would I tell you and I haven't told anybody else"? then looks away with a big smirk on his face. He's pissed.
I don't know how someone can come up with the idea that Zimmer is planning to start Teddy and this is proof that he's going to do it.
That is not correct. after the second INT, Case only threw 4 passes for 17 yards, that was the entire 4th quarter. none of them were more than 3 yard passes IIRC. Rudolph gained 7 yards mostly after the catch for the longest one.
Perhaps pushing the ball was not a good description, as that indicates that they tired to throw the ball deep, but a 7min drive certainly is not a run three plays and kick the ball and let your defense control the game. After those two interceptions the Vikings threw the ball on 2nd and 7 at their own 25 yard line. despite throwing back to back ints they keep him in the game and trust him to continue to throw the ball. If they were looking for an opportunity to put Teddy in that was it. with 4:44 secs left 3rd and 8 at their own 39 they are looking to pass the ball. That is a trust in Keenum not even a smidgen of doubt. Look at the play of Keenum's second int. He chased the player down and knocked the ball out of his hands and nearly forced a touchback. Would Teddy have been able to make that play? I don't think there are many QB's that make that play. Look at the 10:00 mark of the 4th quarter 3 and 1 Case fakes the handoff and rolls out to the right immediately under pressure, but is able to quickly get rid of the ball to theilen who gets a lot of credit for making the 1st down, but equally as remarkable is Keenums ability to get him the ball under pressure. later in that drive 3rd down and 11 at the Washington 35 (in field goal range) in the shotgun Keenum attempts a pass middle of the field to Theilen who uncharacteristically drops the pass, which would have kept the drive and clock going. That possession was 8 running plays to 4 pass plays, 4 of those running plays are ran out of the shotgun and they put 3 points on the board. Washington takes 3 mins off the clock and turns it over on downs. then just under 5 mins left minnesota plays it conservative, but is looking to throw on 3rd down and 8 at their own 39.

Ok so the Vikings had 3 possessions and they were leading 35-27 after the Washington drive off of the second interception. keep in mind that we had gone into ball control. Two reasons.. 1)-yes the interceptions. No need to give any more reason to allow the other team to get the ball back. 2) Control the clock. Keep it running.
Here is how those posessions went down:
___________
- Minnesota Vikings at 14:47
- 6-N.Rose kicks 65 yards from WAS 35 to end zone, Touchback.
- 1-10-MIN 25(14:47) 25-L.Murray right end to MIN 28 for 3 yards (50-M.Spaight; 53-Z.Brown).
- 2-7-MIN 28(14:12) 7-C.Keenum pass short right to 82-K.Rudolph to MIN 31 for 3 yards (50-M.Spaight; 29-K.Fuller).
- 3-4-MIN 31(13:29) (Shotgun) 7-C.Keenum pass short middle to 82-K.Rudolph to MIN 43 for 12 yards (53-Z.Brown).
- 1-10-MIN 43(13:00) (No Huddle, Shotgun) 21-J.McKinnon right tackle to WAS 48 for 9 yards (36-D.Swearinger).
- 2-1-WAS 48(12:37) (No Huddle, Shotgun) 21-J.McKinnon right guard to WAS 48 for no gain (52-R.Anderson; 36-D.Swearinger).
- 3-1-WAS 48(11:56) 30-C.Ham left guard to WAS 45 for 3 yards (58-J.Galette; 50-M.Spaight).
- 1-10-WAS 45(11:19) 25-L.Murray right guard to WAS 40 for 5 yards (63-B.Banks, 92-S.McGee).
- 2-5-WAS 40(10:38) 25-L.Murray left guard to WAS 36 for 4 yards (24-J.Norman).
- 3-1-WAS 36(10:01) 7-C.Keenum pass short right to 19-A.Thielen to WAS 34 for 2 yards (24-J.Norman, 90-E.Hood).
- 1-10-WAS 34(9:20) 25-L.Murray up the middle to WAS 33 for 1 yard (90-E.Hood).
- 2-9-WAS 33(8:38) (Shotgun) 21-J.McKinnon left end to WAS 35 for -2 yards (36-D.Swearinger).
- 3-11-WAS 35(7:55) (Shotgun) 7-C.Keenum pass incomplete short middle to 19-A.Thielen.
- 4-11-WAS 35(7:50) 2-K.Forbath 53 yard field goal is GOOD, Center-47-K.McDermott, Holder-4-R.Quigley.
- MIN 38 WAS 27 Plays: 13 Possession: 7:02
Ok so pass number 1 at play number 4 of the drive. Down and distance is 2nd and 7.
Pass number 2 play number 5 gains the 1st down.
Plays 6,7,8 are all runs as there wasn't a reason to pass on that down and distance given the state of the game (up late in the game with 1 yard to gain 1st down)
Plays 9,10,11 Gained 9 yards on the ground on 1st and 2nd downs and a high probability pass on 3rd down for a first down conversion
Plays 12, 13, 14 already in Field goal range running on 1st and 2nd downs a conservative pass was thrown incomplete to allow for kicking field goal
They likely wanted to get a few more yards to shorten the field goal but THIS IS THE FIRST INCOMPLETE PASS since the interceptions on this drive there weren't many reasons or opportunities to throw the ball.
___________
- Minnesota Vikings at 04:44
- 1-10-MIN 37(4:44) 25-L.Murray left guard to MIN 37 for no gain (92-S.McGee).
- 2-10-MIN 37(4:03) 25-L.Murray right end to MIN 39 for 2 yards (50-M.Spaight; 24-J.Norman).
- Timeout #2 by WAS at 03:57.
- 3-8-MIN 39(3:57) (Shotgun) 7-C.Keenum scrambles up the middle to MIN 40 for 1 yard (50-M.Spaight).
- Timeout #3 by WAS at 03:50.
- 4-7-MIN 40(3:50) 4-R.Quigley punts 38 yards to WAS 22, Center-47-K.McDermott, fair catch by 80-J.Crowder.
Running on 1st and 2nd down is typical for the state of the game at that time.
Play/item 5 Broken play results in a punt rather than forcing the ball down field. Vikings up 11 points with 3:50 left on the clock.
___________
- Minnesota Vikings at 01:14
- 6-N.Rose kicks onside 5 yards from WAS 35 to WAS 40, out of bounds.
- 1-10-WAS 40(1:14) 7-C.Keenum kneels to WAS 41 for -1 yards.
- 2-11-WAS 41(:35) 7-C.Keenum kneels to WAS 42 for -1 yards.
- END GAME
A lot is being made about what plays were called and how many passes were completed after the interceptions. But looking at how the game actually played out and looking at the down and distance and the game clock. There just wasn't many opportunities to pass the ball with regard to risk/reward. And that is the fact no matter what QB was on the field.

what was so remarkeable about Keenum chasing down a guy and knocking the ball away? and why woudnt many QBs be able to make that play if the ball carrier was sloppy with the football? its not like Keenum is fleet of foot for a QB. he is nifty in the pocket and able to roll out nicely, but he is no speed demon.

Come on Jimmy how many times have we seen QB's either not go after that play or give a "QB type effort"

I know you dont care for him as a QB, but you cant honestly say that the kid isnt all effort all the time.
In a conversation about Teddy or Case, other QBs arent really germane to the conversation so I wouldnt bother considering comparing Case (or Teddy) to them.

Washington takes 3 mins off the clock and turns it over on downs. then just under 5 mins left minnesota plays it conservative, but is looking to throw on 3rd down and 8 at their own 39.
what was so remarkeable about Keenum chasing down a guy and knocking the ball away? and why woudnt many QBs be able to make that play if the ball carrier was sloppy with the football? its not like Keenum is fleet of foot for a QB. he is nifty in the pocket and able to roll out nicely, but he is no speed demon.
If I have a QB that throws an interception like that the interceptor has a running start to the end zone at the 30 and the QB is able to keep him out of the endzone and not only that but has the wear with all to knock the ball out and nearly cause a turnover. He prevented him from scoring and allowed the opportunity for the defense to stop a touchdown, but the Defense nearly caused a turnover on the next play. I think that was a dam good play/recovery on Keenums part watch the video again.http://www.nfl.com/m/share?p=%2Fvideos%2Fnfl-game-highlights%2F0ap3000000875656%2FSwearinger-jumps-the-route-for-his-second-INT Yup I think you could say that was remarkable.
and I'm not sure if swearnger has intercepted a pass like that before, but he probably carried the ball like that thinking he had a touchdown, Case met him at the four he's as fast if not faster than swearanger

Come on Jimmy how many times have we seen QB's either not go after that play or give a "QB type effort"
do you think Teddy is that type of QB?
I know you dont care for him as a QB, but you cant honestly say that the kid isnt all effort all the time.
In a conversation about Teddy or Case, other QBs arent really germane to the conversation so I wouldnt bother considering comparing Case (or Teddy) to them.
What does this have to do with Teddy? I didn't make any comparison to Teddy at all. For the record I think Teddy is all heart and I think he would challenge on the play the same if not more.
I didn't bring up any other players specifically. I brought up the overall mentality of people playing the position today which seems to be that we have to keep the QB from engaging in physical play which has created the mindset of the people that playit.

its in a conversation comparing Teddy and Case. Scott is making a case for Case over Teddy and then saying he doesnt see that type of effort from other QBs would be inferring that Teddy wouldnt have made that play. at least thats how I would read it in the conversation that it is taking place in.

Dunno, but arguing for a QB because he hustled down to make a tackle on an INT isn't exactly making a great case.

I don't see how there is any way it isn't Case.
if it was Teddy... it wouldnt be Case... so thats one way.
LOL smart ass. I would be shocked if it were Teddy. At this point, just put in the best QB you feel is right for this team. I am not sold on Case though like the people who are against certain situations.
