Indeed. And honestly, one of the overlooked aspects of the change in leadership here is the return to saber-rattling.
Like Trump or not, he didn't start any wars, was moving the middle east towards reconciliation. Now we have the war monger central party back in power and not sure what Biden will say that may kick it up a notch is very concerning.
One of the best features of his adminstration.
Yep. Was wondering if any of the leftists here could actually admit that, but I guess that is too much to expect.
Yeah no one took him seriously, the "Little rocket man" bullshit was pretty laughable. And giving away the Crimea, because they speak Russian was a real fine moment where the world was saying the US is great again.
Who did nothing while russia took over Crimea?

Mask jokes and shots aside, do the conservative Republicans here really want Trump as their candidate again in 24? Do you really want his Nationalist, Trumpism agenda influencing the party doctrine on a forward basis?
I personally dont like the "far left" influences on team Blue, and I sure dont support Trumps influence on my old party of Lincoln...
I wish extremism on both sides wasn't so influential...sigh
well one thing that will keep the divide growing is the petty shit that takes place on boards like these. the name calling is going to be the end of this board as I am fucking tired of people thinking they can get away with it because of .... I dont care, if the civility doesnt return there will be immediate bannings coming.
Agreed! Civility also involves using proper language... you know not swearing all over the place and also not thinking this is all about " you".
if YOU dont like it, YOU can be the first to leave. I dont really care.
I never said that. I just highlighted what civility also entails. You are quite responsive for someone who does not really care. Maybe you should really not care as you say.
either follow the rules or go away, its up to you. cursing has not been against the rules ever on this board, being decent to each other always has been rule 1.
Fucking A.
Or a B, but only a C in extreme cases.

At least Obama and the rest of the then G8 booted Russia out for their actions after the Ukrane deposed their Putin puppet (Trumps real career goal). As opposed to Trump giving Putin a warm tongue bath and threatening Allies unless the let Russia back in. Thereby making the oligarches happy and supporting Putin’s power base.
so in a word parsing kinda of way, I simplified it and was too general, for your understanding. My point was Trump and his chronic heel spur condition, left things much worse than any of his predecessors, and conflating his lack of integrity and servitude to Putin with any diplomatic achievments is really laughble if you pay any attention, in my humble opinion.

Well, perhaps the Cheney's and McCains would be better off as just being honest and turning demoncrat. Perhaps then crazy nancy will learn Liz's name.
Or maybe, just maybe, they'd like to see the gop remember that it actually was something other than a moronic fan club for a cheez-dusted, babbling liar....

So, after the fact, they kicked them out of the cool kids club, but did nothing at the time to stop Russia from taking over Crimea. Remember a few years before this when the dems mocked the republicans that warned of Russia? What happened to russia being a threat was a joke?
laughable is the way the dems flip and flop over what they are going to give a shit about this week. I guess its really not a talking point unless there is an election on the line or a way to use it degrade a political opponent, other than that they are all the same, as long as their rich buddies are making money they dont give a shit.

So your criticizing Obama for not going to war? What do you think was the best option available that he didn’t do. Do you agree that Putins power base is the oligarches and to go after their intrests may be a viable strategy for destabilizing his regime. I know your affinity for being critical of anything not jimmycentric, how about putting some intellect out there.

Lets talk about this...
Many saw Obama's response to the invasion as soft (and you would be correct). However, Obama's resistance was based on his view of Ukraine (right or wrong)...
Quote:
Obama’s theory here is simple: Ukraine is a core Russian interest but not an American one, so Russia will always be able to maintain escalatory dominance there.” Indeed, Obama told Jeff: “The fact is that Ukraine, which is a non-NATO country, is going to be vulnerable to military domination by Russia no matter what we do.
Source: The Atlantic
Obama did not think it was worth engaging in a war. He wanted to empower the Ukrainians. However he could not because the REPUBLICANS controlled congress and would not approve his efforts despite criticizing Obama (where has we seen this before?). Unlike Trump who had the support of all three branches.
Now lets talk about the red part highlighted above...
The republicans did not even want Ukraine/Crimea as a campaign talking point (I wonder why with all we later discovered but I digress...).
Quote:
Despite their criticism of Obama, the Republican platform ahead of the 2016 presidential election didn’t call for U.S. weapons to be sent to Ukraine to fight Russian-backed rebels.
Source: The Atlantic
and ...
Quote:
Trump campaign guts GOP’s anti-Russia stance on Ukraine
The Trump campaign worked behind the scenes last week to make sure the new Republican platform won’t call for giving weapons to Ukraine to fight Russian and rebel forces, contradicting the view of almost all Republican foreign policy leaders in Washington.
Source: Washington Post
And right after Trump takes over they call for Trump to send arms
Quote:
McCain to Trump: Send weapons to Ukraine
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is calling on President Trump to send lethal aid to Ukraine after attacks this week were blamed on Russia-backed rebels...
Source: The Hill
I am sure you see which group completely changed stance here. If it is not clear let me summarize:
- Republicans before election: Criticize Obama for not doing much to help Ukraine, don't support the president (Obama) sending arms and definitely don't talk about Ukraine during campaign
- Republicans after election: Talk about Ukraine (as a matter of fact leverage them for political gains), ask the president (Trump) to send arms to Ukraine
Clear enough?
