Yes, the WR got elevated for playing against the 3rd and 4th string, but part of that is how he is doing in practice as well. We olny see the games on TV, the coaches see Sloter in practice and meetings and don't think he's ready....I'll trust them over people here that were just as high on Ponder in preseason.......
I think we are on same page. The WR got elevated to practice with the starters but Sloter can't get a series with the 2s in a preseason game? Seriously what dies "ready" mean? He is playing very well with the 3-4th string. Actually, some of those players play with the second string if we want to he picky. It is starting to feel like playing well at practice trump's playing well in games. I would think it's a mixture of both with some degree of flexibility. Again all I am asking is a few series.
And let's not forget what Sloter has said about it.
"it’s tough [to play well in practice] because right now they’re giving Sean the reps. I know I’ve got to be on point with the few reps that I do get. But I think that there’s a pretty clear reason why practice isn’t necessarily always 100 percent smooth is because I’m not out there getting the reps.
It’s not an excuse. I’ve got to go out and perform my best no matter what the circumstances. But I’m a rhythm player. I feel like I’m a pretty instinctual player. I feel like when I get in the flow of the game … it’s easier to make throws rather than throwing one ball and then waiting 45 minutes to throw another.’’

Thank you. That just buttresses my point and makes the more perplexing.

He does... But this is now the 3rd offensive coaching staff (Shurmur, Defelippo, and Stefanski/Kubiak) that hasn't elevated him beyond QB3.
There has to be something going on from his mental approach or stuff he's doing in the QB room that gives the coaches pause about how well he would do against legit NFL talent.

It's pretty clear that Sloter, in his 2nd season, after playing 1 year of QB in Greeley, wasn't going to rise to QB2 on a team with 2 QBs with starting experience ahead of him. I'm not even arguing that he should be QB2 THIS year.
However, he should've gotten reps with the 2's and he absolutely should not be released in favor of a 4th TE or 7th LB or whatever. You want to debate that, I'm game.
Remember, Tony Romo was the 3rd string QB for 3 seasons. In his 4th he was promoted to QB2. Six games in, he took over for the starter and threw 3 interceptions. Bill Parcells stuck with him and the rest is history. Zim needs to call Parcells.

I do not see what is the issue here. He is still on the team and that is all that matters.
Whether or not he comes in as the 2nd QB in preseason games just seems like whining to me.
The fact that he said those things above publicly probably did not endear him to Zimmer.
I could be wrong but I have to imagine that opening your pie hole publicly is probably not the wisest move to make with Zimmer.
I read somewhere here (might have been in another Sloter lovefest post), that if Sloter gets cut, the fans and media will go crazy.....that is beyond laughable to me. Paul Allen is firmly in the Manion at #2 spot, and it's not even close. Says what he sees at every practice, Sloter is an undeveloped talent with upside that isn't ready yet. Much like what the coaches say.
What media will be all over the vikings for cutting Sloter? I doubt many will take more than a second look. First string and backup is all anyone really cares about.
Sloter has some upside, but our coaching staff doesn't trust him yet.....that is all I need to know. If he was ready, and Kubiak thought he was, he would bend Zim's ear and convince him of it, but so far he has been silent.....

How would you know if Kubiak or Stephanski haven't mentioned anything to Zimmer about promoting Sloter to #2? You say he's been silent. I think they all have had plenty of discussions regarding Sloter's development. How could they not? He's played exceptionally well in each game.
Paul Allen said the coaches are unanimous opinion that Sloter just isn't ready.......that includes Kubiack and Stefanski. Paul Allen is there everyday and reporting this, not some arm chair QB seeing him play a vanillla preseason offense against 3 and 4th stringers playing vanilla preseason defense.

Good luck pushing this common sense and accurate assessment of Sloter on to some here. The King of Meaningless Stats (Sloter) cannot be mitigated by your coherent ramblings, sir! :p
