It has to be Asked - What About QB for 2018?

True.  Maybe our future QB will go 14-2.

19k yards in college.  155 tds/46 Int.  70% completion rate. 160 rating.

Maybe, just maybe ... people overlook what we really have here because of preconceived notions.
do you think case goes 12-3 as a starter without the #1 defense and much improve OL,   not to mention the offensive weapons around him?  depending on how much the team slipped I think a better QB could still achieve that mark or better.  we have a lot of great pieces,  why is it so bad to want to see if we can find a great QB instead of settling for a one year wonder?

Last time i looked, which was two weeks ago, both Adam and Diggs are ranked in the Top 5 for Contested Catches.

If Bradford played the whole season I can guarantee you neither Receiver would be in the Top 10.

Both get wide spanking open and then have t make a contested catch because Case doesn't have the arm talent to hit them on a rope to all parts of the field.

This is something that has to be considered. Keenum enables the OC to call certain plays because of his innate mobility and pocket presence. And his arm strength prevents the OC from calling certain plays as well.

Shurmer makes it work. Can whomever replaces him also do that? Or will Pat's successor want someone with a livelier arm?

LOL I guess we have seen different games.  Case has thrown it in tight windows.

And he has been extremely accurate.  The Vikes have completed 70% of passes over 20 yards.
Case has been bailed out a lot on floated passes.  ( i agree that they need to be thrown,  but to many of those should have been uncontested catches but the under thrown receiver comes back and saves the play.)  Case has been a very good QB for what he is,  but there should be much higher standards for the position in terms of a long term deal.
Case consistently under throws the long pass.  I can remember Diggs getting mauled while slowing up and turning back for the ball more than once.  Last week the vikes got bailed out by PI penalties because of under throws to both Diggs and Adam.  If Bradford were throwing those would have both been TD's. The  % 70 completion over 20 yards includes yards after catch so thats a bogus stat.  I like Case and love what he has done this season but he is who he is.  A borderline NFL starter with a average arm at best.  He fell into the perfect situation this season with Minnesota and Shurmer but I just dont think he can carry a team by himself when they need it and thats what is needed in a franchise QB.

I suppose we will find out when out defense isn't #1?

We have had a lot of great defenses over the years.  How many 13-3 seasons?

I hope Case wins the Super Bowl.  If he doesn't, and moves on ... I hope all of you who think he isn't good enough remember this - if he wins it all with another team.  Especially one that has an average defense.

Well sometimes the announcers call that a smart play by the WR for coming back to the ball
:b
Rodgers has made a nice living off those PI calls

I'm just glad to see us taking a shot, as Ponder and others were afraid to throw into single coverage, or instructed not to

it depends on the situation.. the ones in question with Case are the many times where the receiver has his man beat for an easy score but Case under throws him and make the receiver work much harder than he should have to and often just ends up being a long gain instead of a score.

Deep ball splits last full-ish season.
Edit: to clarify, this is the yardage the ball traveled in the air (not YAC).

Keenum
21-30 - 7/31 (22.6%) - 2 TDs
31-40 - 0/5 (0%) - 0 TDs
41+ - 4/10 (40%) - 0 TDs
Total 11/46 (23.9%) - 2 TDs

Bradford
21-30 - 15/29 (51.7%) - 3 TDs
31-40 - 3/11 (27.2%) - 1 TD
41+ - 0/0
Total 18/40 (45%) - 4 TDs

Bridgewater
21-30 - 9/29 (31%) - 2 TDs
31-40 - 2/9 (22.2%) - 1 TD
41+ - 0/4 (0%)
Total 11/42 (26.2%) - 3 TDs

One thing that can be observed  regarding Keenum, none of his completions over 31 (the completions are all 41+) yards have resulted in a TD.  I bet every one of those completions was a contested catch (probably under thrown) just by looking at those numbers.  I bet it's rare to have 4 completions that traveled at least 41 yards without having a TD.

And since I have to add a disclaimer for some, no, this is not to knock Keenum.  Those are the numbers, that's what happened on the field.
