I am expecting much tighter games in the playoffs,  Case can win me over if he shows more than just "game manager" traits.  If he can lift the offense up when needed and make the defense respect the entire field I will be more inclined to want to see him extended,  but if we continue to see floated passes and starring down receivers then I have to say move on.  I am not really caring as much about where the ride ends, but rather how Keenum himself looks during the ride.  so far I have seen to many ups and downs in his game to say one way or the other,  but I would tend to lean towards being conservative with any offer to Case at this point.  ( same with Teddy and Sam)
https://vikefans.com/discussion/#/discus...ing-in-nfl

Look at how Case did against the blitz.  He isn't a game manager.
we have rarely seen Case take the game on his shoulders,  what we have seen is the defense be stifling and the offense use a very good mix of run and pass to get an early lead and then they take the ball out of his hands and go run heavy to kill the clock.  good game plan,  but when they tried to keep scoring like they did in DC,  Cases warts were exposed.  Case is not a QB that is going to strike fear into opposing defenses with his arm talent.   his scrambling ability has kept him viable, but a stronger armed QB wouldnt necessarily need to run around as much either.  I dont want to count on a QBs legs in terms of future production from the position.  I want a long term answer to be a strong QB first and an improviser second.

Case is a game manager with his average or worse arm strength and unwillingness/inability to throw into tight windows.

We could/will win the Super Bowl with Keenum at the helm and there would/will still be questions if we would have been better with someone else
As there should be. Winning a Super Bowl doesn't make you a franchise QB (Plunkett, Hostetler, Williams, Rypien, Dilfer). Trent Dilfer won a Super Bow for the Ravens and was not even re-signed the following season.
A good point but Trent Dilfer was a mere mortal.  After 0-4 any Viking QB who wins the Superbowl will be immortalized in Valhalla forever.
So ask yourself, do you see Trent Dilfer in Valhalla?  No, of course not.  :p

Seriously though, I dont see them parting ways with Kenum if he wins it all.  No way in hell.
If Sloter is the next Steve Young then I think they keep Case (The guy with the healthiest knees) and finish grooming Sloter, and draft his replacement.

True & I was going to mention some of those QB's
He has done everything asked of him, to the point he is discussed as MVP in some circles,
Yet, he can not do enough

all three guys should be looking something like Mike Glennon got or better. if not fire their agents. because all three are better than Glennon even with teddy and sam injury history.

id say sam or case go whereever Shurmur ends up. Teddy stays since he is Zimmers guy, a recent first rounder that team was starting to view as franchise guy; and is still only like 24.

teddy may also be cheapest. letting case and or Sam helps our comp draft pick more if they cost more in FA.

only way i see this different is if Case wins SuperBowl. kinda hard to let a qb go after that
hard to yes but not unprecedented.  how many back up QBs, with average passing skills,  on one year deals have won a superbowl?

for the record I hate these conversations.  I like aspects of all 3 but I can see issues with resigning all of them as well,  unfortunately in the world wide web,  any statement will be taken as an extreme position and before long you are viewed as a narrow minded hater.....  no matter how this season ends up I am expecting an offseason of stupid bickering about the QB situation once again.

LOL I guess we have seen different games.  Case has thrown it in tight windows.

And he has been extremely accurate.  The Vikes have completed 70% of passes over 20 yards.

The bottom line is...Keenum will be playing next year for someone making better money than he did this year.  =)

Teddy and Sam both have question marks about their knees. And I wish them the best of luck next season.
I'm interested to see what direction the front office goes.

Case has been bailed out a lot on floated passes.  ( i agree that they need to be thrown,  but to many of those should have been uncontested catches but the under thrown receiver comes back and saves the play.)  Case has been a very good QB for what he is,  but there should be much higher standards for the position in terms of a long term deal.

True.  Maybe our future QB will go 14-2.

19k yards in college.  155 tds/46 Int.  70% completion rate. 160 rating.

Maybe, just maybe ... people overlook what we really have here because of preconceived notions.

I agree that Case has been bailed out a lot. He has been getting away with things this year and that is fine. He is getting it done! I wouldn't bank on him being the long term answer though. He is benefiting from a great team and I am just fine with that for this year lol
