why would anybody go buy it from a licensed dealer and pay 16% tax ( and likely more because the dealer has to pay for a license as well as likely a store front)  when their current supply situation is tax free and has been working just fine for them.  Its not like its been a challenge for anybody the last 60 years to find pot has it?
Mainly I'm excited about not worrying about getting busted for pot. Just glad it's legal, and hopefully the stigma of pot use just goes away.
Honestly I know a lot of people that smoke weed or ingest weed products and none of them still buy illegally. Everyone uses dispensaries. The products are quality guaranteed, which is one thing most people appreciate.
Yah, I dont think there is much stigma to use anymore, even here where its illegal till 8/1.

Like any massive bill, this one has its points I agree with and those I dont. But overall ending prohibition is something I thought was the right thing to do and about 15 years late. Unlike the vote in the MN House, I was disappointed not one Senate republican voted yes. It passed strictly along party lines.

I've never been much of a drinker. When I do partake in pot? It's after I have had my full day and maybe just a puff later in the evening.  I guess we'd call that a nightcap???

Cool breeze, some good waves and a small buzz ala Spicolli. Who the hell wants to go through life stoned or drunk?

Not me.

I had to see dependency burying my BIL @ 49 after a 20 year struggle with alcoholism, something that forever traumatized his wife and kids.

IMHO, pot is much less harmful than alcohol or tobacco. But thats not a rabbit hole we need to go down.

He forgot the part where the pot heads flock to legalized places and hard drug use skyrockets and people shit on the streets.

I tend to agree on pot being relatively harmless,  but if the shit show that seems to follow legalization in other states is the result,  I will keep voting against legalization here and not complain a bit about cops looking the other way on its use,  which many do as long as people aren't being stupid with it or getting into harder shit.

I dont think it's really been stigmatized in my area in decades, as long as people aren't abusing it publicly and then it's no worse than somebody shit faced,   and certainly not difficult to get if you know anybody.

Personally, I couldn't care less if it were legal or not.

Don't know what you mean by shitting on the streets or the "shit show that follows," but as far as hard drug use goes, studies have shown there doesn't appear to be a signifiant correlation.

im not talking about the casual user going to harder drugs,  I am referring to the appearance of hard core drug users showing up in states that have legalized weed.  its likely always been the same %,  but I have heard from Denver residents that there is a "shit" element that has appeared in the last decade that wasnt present prior to the legalization. ( and also talking about Denver seeing similar actual SHIT on their sidewalks and alleyways, similar to what is happening in more herbal understanding cities on the west coast.

I know there are parts of Denver that were re-invented in the 90s and early 2000s that made that place a destination for people our age,  I also know ( from people that I trust, that also happen to be of the nature to imbibe)  that some of those areas are no longer places to visit due to the hard core drug use and its side effects that has infested the area.

Studies also show ( from Colorado) that the legalization, and subsequent tax revenue increase, dont offset the financial and social costs associated with legalization.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/article...e%20budget.

Like I have said,  I am not against or really give a shit about pot use, honestly... if i ever got to the point in life that it just doesnt matter and I need the reported benefits of its use, I would likely venture down that road,  but I would much prefer to see it stay illegal and deal with our status quo,  vs what I am reading and hearing out the effects of legalization.  We have legalized it for medical use, which I support as long as we dont have witch doctors giving out "prescriptions" like its candy,  but talking to one of the few licensed growers in the state,  it will only be a matter of months before he is given "an offer he cant refuse" from a cartel or other unsavory organization that wants to establish a foothold in this market.

You mean it didn't make you want to shoot smack and rob a liquor store? I smoke every now and then and all I ever want to do is eat Funyuns and listen to Pink Floyd. And I HATE Pink Floyd.  B)

Same here. Aggressive toward a Costco-sized bag of Cool Ranch Doritos? Guilty.

I'll probably have a gummy before today's NFL lineup. I'll try my best to not shit in the driveway.

I could care less if its legal or not anymore.

Hell, I've had my black mkt sources literally for decades and was fine running with that for a long while.

Having some regulation will have its +/-, but going into a store to buy something will be novel, at least for a little while.
