I don't have an agenda, but I wondered what people here thought, and more importantly, if it will affect the crowd's desire to see him in a game.
Sure you do, you made a judgement of off today.
Hopefully, we get a good lead on the Packers next week so he can get some more gameplay. I would hate for us to need him and he's just getting his first reps in 36 games (Regular season and pre season).
"I still don't know what to think of Case..."
Then I don't think you ever will.
Ever.
Even I f he would have only missed on 2 of his passes today instead of 3 ( breaking Favre's Viking record for completion percentage in a game ) you would still not know what to think.
While fans of other teams would be saying, “We finally found a guy who can really play the QB position”, Vikings fans are asking, “What if?”.
I understand, I’ve been a fan for 44 years. We won’t let ourselves get too excited or feel too good. Specially about a player at a position where there hasn’t been a lot of success.
I love the fact Teddy came out onto the field in the 4th quarter. He is a great guy!
Sign Case to a nice contract! I think he’s the guy and has the “It” factor.

What it comes down to is that I don't think he's an elite QB. He's had good results this year, but I think those are largely due to Shurmur, good skill players who give him a large margin for error, and in general an improved OL, though the last two games the line was shaky. I also think he's been lucky year. He's taken a lot of risks and balls have either bounced his way or the receivers have made tremendous catches. It's worked out so far and I am happy that we are winning, but I feel he's QB riding a hot streak in an ideal situation. I hope he continues riding this streak throughout the playoffs and we win it all, but I think they waited too long to re-sign him as a mid term option and he won't be worth the contract that he signs in the off-season.
I think their formula of an elite defense, very good supporting cast on offense, and depth at QB is compelling. An elite QB would of course be ideal, but if they can get away with not paying elite QB money than that allows them to have depth and improve the supporting cast for whomever is at QB. The hard part is that as more of our younger players get paid, then keeping what we spend on QB reasonable becomes more important. Someone is going to pay Keenum this off-season, I'd just be hesitant to give him Glennon or Bradford money.

And what about Sloter?
He's a complete unknown. He'd benefit from Shurmur and the supporting cast, but I doubt he has enough experience or developed talent to excel. I'm not saying that Keenum is bad, just that he's around an average QB who has benefited tremendously from an ideal situation. He is making the most out of the opportunity and in the past we have not had QB friendly schemes or personnel, everything was directed towards running the offense through Peterson.
I love Teddy, but I think the best thing for the team and this season is exactly what happened today. If Teddy had made some nice throws or driven down for a score I know at least some of the fans would have been calling for him to start if Case has a bad game in the next couple weeks. But this did two things it got the jitters off of Teddy so if he really is needed because of injury he is calm and ready. Secondly there is really no debate left this is Case's team for this year period. Unless Case gets injured he is the starter through the super bowl win. Today put the debate to rest for this year anyway.

It's Case's team for the rest of the year and yes, it is better for Teddy to get the jitters out of his system now, so if he is needed later this season, then he as at least seem some live action since his injury. The debate is what happens after this year, since we have no QB under contract and the Vikings could go in any number of directions with players on the current roster or from elsewhere. A lot also depends on what happens with Shurmur. A deep playoff run would increase our odds of keeping him and would bode well for keeping any of the QBs on the current roster. If Shurmur leaves, then that radically changes the discussion of who should be our QBs next year.

What about him? He's the 3rd string developmental guy. He will get his time in the preseason, he will have a chance to fight for the backup job. If we somehow keep 2 of the 3 starters we have then Sloter is the 3.
All I know is when Teddy entered the game, my 11 year old was in LITERAL tears as his favorite player made his way back to the field after not knowing if he'd ever even walk correctly again. Say what you will about Teddy, but taking the field had a real impact with the team and fan base. Case is unquestionably the starter, but make no mistake...Teddy is LOVED by the fans.
Only thing that rivaled that was taking him to his first NFL game.
