yeah I have to agree, Cousins played much better in his championship game.
Penix will be a guy to take a hard pass on. You know, the guy you wanted to start his rookie year in the NFL, lol.

Well I have said that I  would be happy with any of the top 5 QBs. Penix and McCarthy were my two because I have always thought Williams and Maye would be gone. I also would be happy with Nix. Now do I think any of these could play well enough to win if they start as a rookie? Yes
Outside of Williams, Maye, and maybe Daniels....there's not one QB that should be starting next year. Not to say they can't be good eventually.  But if you're expecting an immediate return on anyone outside the top 3, you're going to be very disappointed

It's the shiny new toy effect. Some people are so desperate to pivot off KC that they dont care to critically analyze the reality of the situation when it comes to young QB's and what the likely outcome is for year one play. Lol, because Stroud, ONE QB in all of last years draft had an unworldly season thats enough for some to say it's just as likely MN stumbles upon a Stroud in the draft.
Its the 'anyone but Cousins' effect for some. And if whomever is drafted doesn't pan out, its because KOC/KAM fucked up. And we would have already won a Superbowl with Harbaugh. Or with Joe Flacco. The Bitter Betty Brigade is going to be like this all offseason.

I will take either over what we will get from Cousins and his $40M per year.

Give me Penix/McCarthy + 2 DL FA vs one Kirk Cousins coming off of an achilles tear. . .

How the fuck is this even a conversation at this point?  Some fans just love hope and mediocrity

I think all of our appreciation for Cousins grew this year. But still...he's 36, coming off a major injury, and doesn't have a contract. So he becomes a sizable, pricey gamble at this point. We know the front office has been wanting to move off his contract for a while.

The rest of what you threw out there is all possible.

If it were up to some here Cousins would get a lift-time contract. How many chances does this dude get? He couldn't get it done with the BEST WR in the NFL. What's next for Cousins, the Hall of Fame and his number retired?I have never seen such an average QB accomplish so little but get so many accolades and fan support.Sorry but there are better QBs at local parks.

Have you ever seen what Kirk could do at a local park?  He's performing at the highest level and doing pretty damn well,  just to expensive and lacks a few tools for his price tag,   but don't shit yourself,  he would tear up anybody you have at a local park.  He's not chopped liver,  just isn't worth what the market says he is IMO.

But all he needs is a great OL and good running game.  A top WR duo and a receiving threat TE.  And a top 10 defense.

You surround Kirk with that and you get past the wild card round every year

How many quarterbacks are great without some/all of those things?  How many QBs won a chip without at least some of the things you listed?

I'll be waiting

How many have needed all of them....I will wait.

Every time the team comes up short,  its never about Kirk or his contract.

for me, its mostly just his contract.   His short comings as a QB could be worked around if we had more cap space to put into upgrading our IOL,  as a passer I think he is one of the best out there,  but his lack of movement in the pocket,  or inability to extend plays really devalues him for me in a todays NFL were the defenders are so much quicker and athletic than most of the OL they face.
