The cycle is broken in Green Bay

New era in the Vikings vs GB rivalry.  For once we have the better QB.  Hope it translates into a GB sweepSmile

Love had a lot of interceptions in his final college season and that has carried over into the NFL.  It's too early to write him off, he has what like 8 career starts?  That said, some of things you see popping up don't scream franchise QB.
Agree...it's too early to say much of anything about him other than he does not look like another Favre/Rodgers, nor does he look like an obvious bust. He's done some good things. I think he could still be a mid-level starter. A Geno Smith, Derek Carr type.

Which is great if you think about it. Let the Packers wallow in QB mediocrity for years, uncertain whether or not to continue with Love or draft his replacement. The supporting cast just isn't there for the Packers to win with a mid QB.

I don't think teams will 'wallow' anymore. They've never been quicker to dump a QB. Not saying they'll move on from Love next year, but he won't get longer than next season if he continues to be lesser than. All I heard this offseason was how Green Bay's supporting cast was going to help Love.....now it 'just isn't there'. If the Packers are 8 wins or less, wouldn't shock me to see them pull the trigger on a QB in the Draft. At all.

Oh I completely disagree. Unless something disastrous happens they're not going to draft a QB this spring.

Until maybe just a couple weeks ago even the Bears were still wringing their hands over Fields. And I think if they didn't have two top 10 picks, they probably wouldn't take a QB this spring.

It's been a fun 3 years watching the Bears waffle on Fields. Love was actually drafted a year before Fields, but they will use the fact that this is his 1st season as starter to dither a couple/three years on him too. I think he's a better QB than Fields too, which might prolong the dithering.

If Fields or Love were 3rd round picks the teams would already have moved on or be planning to.   It's mostly the sunk cost fallacy keeping them around, especially in Fields case.  If genuine progress isn't there then you are stuck making excuses and telling stories while the clock ticks.

QBs are badly over drafted these days--the QB hype on social and other media is silly at times.  Outside of Trevor Lawrence, the next 4 guys in that draft would have gone in the 2nd-4th rounds 20 years ago.

Teams are stuck paying 1st round cash for middle round talent, and figuring how to face the embarrassment of having to rip the bandaid off and move on.

So yeah Love *could* develop into some mid-tier NFL QB but that's probably the low % ceiling.  There is no buzz here in Wisconsin about him, including in the Packers front office.  Although JT O'Sullivan seems to like him so there is that.

Still doubts out there? The guy is brutal. Was anyone really worried he was going to bring them back? I can say I wasn't.....and I haven't felt that way in a LONG time watching Vikings football. For those that think Green Bay won't go QB in this upcoming Draft, I say maybe think again.

GB is going to have a top 5 pick. They're going to draft Drake Maye & they'll have another 15 years of HOF QB play.
It's the Viking way :p

Vikings just might have a top 5 pick as well lol!

We play GB again again and could very well end-up splitting with them.

This Viking team is very vulnerable with no running game and a D that is not very stout. Cousins and the offense hid a lot of that.

Sad thing is they were just hitting stride too.

I think both the Bears and Packers are in the running for
drafting a QB in the first if one shows up near where they pick.  Obviously both QBs have the rest of the
season to make a case for not being replaced, but if the football gods give them a high quality alternate, they’d be foolish to not take them.
