Meathead Tice had his issues, but he was right about drafting, take the big guy.
Otherwise BPA regardless of position.
I like the take the big guy approach myself, but for me... I want that fricking stud DL. I am admittedly not up on college ball or film like I used to be, but if there is a big nasty DT in this draft, one of the new breed that can eat a double team consistently in run coverage, but still have the athleticism to kill it against singles and doubles in pass rush... please find that guy... I know I am not asking for much, but that 1 player is the key IMO to a top level D..... o fuck, nevermind, forgot we are likely going to a 3-4, better focus on O line so we can just outscore the other team. :p
I watched plenty of the big guy @ Georgia cause I just luv me some SEC...
I would argue we need a DE or CB before a big asz 2 down, 1 gapper.
But I love the big guy and if we go 3/4? He'd be a stalwart for some time.
Cant have a good 3-4 without the big ugly in the middle.

Im down and all for another fatty if hes the best available. I think the All in on 3-4 is a Kwesi idea based on advanced data. I think its really a 5-2 and covers the run gaps more easily, especially on the outside zone plays which just ate us alive this year.
I think we need an edge to compete with Wonnum and a LB. Word is we are going quarters coverage, that is the easiest to play on the outside and requires smart safeties which we have.
I really think we can reload and compete with the current roster.
Linderbaum: I like him but 31 other teams seem to be able to find centers outside the first round, let alone at 12.
Stingley always seems to have a stinger.
Davis is intriguing, but can he be on the field 3 downs? For #12 you'd better.
My almost-completely-uneducated preference would be
1. Gardner
2. Karlaftis
3. Ojabo
4. Linderbaum
5. Davis
Stingley I don't think drops to us. WR isn't close to a 1st round need. McDuffie and Booth seem like reaching for position over talent, as does the edge Johnson. Hopefully someone ahead of us panics for a QB and takes Malik Willis to shove the rest of the talent one slot closer to us.
I've seen a couple where McDuffie is gone before our pick.
And, I'll guess McDuffie is high on O'Connell's wish list.
I usually agree with Tice's "get a big guy" philosophy, but this year the pick is obvious IMO. Gotta be a corner.
1. No question CB is a premium position worthy of a top 12 pick. 2. Looks like a good year for corners where we're picking. 3. It's by far our biggest need. In fact, depending on what we do in free agency, our 2nd pick might be a corner too.

With the depth at corner would it be smarter to trade down 8 to 10 spots to add another day 2 pick and still be able to add a quality corner most likely? Or will all the top CBs be gone by then? Is it worth the risk?

Analytics will tell you that trading down usually results in better value, but it all depends on where the value is clustered in this draft and I haven't looked at the position thoroughly enough yet to say.

There's 5 CBs I'd take in round 1. There's another 2 worthy of our 2nd. After that, it falls off.
I've been on Sauce for the past 2+ months. He probably won't run an elite 40, but then again, neither did Jefferson. If he's there, you take him. When you come out of a game with Bama with 2 targets, 1 catch, for -2 yards, you take him, give him the #1 purple jersey, and sit back for the next 8-10 years and don't worry about the position.

I agree there are certain players who are MEH testing but everything they do on the field suggests they're going to be phenomenal in the NFL. Sauce would even be better in Fangio's defense considering how much they'd play him in zone.

I'm guessing Sauce runs in the low 4.5s high 4.4s.
