Couldn't think of two worse hiring candidates than Birk and Dungy.

Hopefully we see some interview requests reported today/tomorrow.
Just curious, but why would he be worse then any of these never done anythings that have been mentioned?
Birk has zero coaching experience, why would he even be considered?? Tony Dungy is 66 years old and last coached 13 years ago. I mean, its kind of self evident.
I agree on Birk but talking Dungy specifically. He may be 66 but still very sharp and heavily involved in the league and what goes on. He knows how to rebuild rosters having done it in both Tampa Bay and Indy.

I don't know, I'd take Dungy over the Rex Hogan's of the world. And I'm talking specifically about the GM position, not the head coach gig
I saw a GM possibilities list this morning and Rex hogan wasn't even mentioned. When I saw that name yesterday I figured Rex must have had a good publicist.

I can see the perfect Viking GM name at least, Monti Ossenfort. Yes he is real.

I wasn't speaking about Birk for our coaching spot. My argument for him was specific to our GM opening.

Please no 66 year olds who haven't coached in a decade... good lord.  Get us a relatively young guy with a fresh perspective and real upside.  Please.

Lol you say "good lord" as if I suggested making Ellen Degeneres the GM. Dungy is a hall of famer who is still very, very active in league circles. Dungy has spent his whole career learning from some of the greatest minds in league history and knows how to revamp rosters. He might have no interest and be perfectly happy with his analyst job. With that said, his ties to the state and organization would be worth making that phone call. I'd trust Dungy making organizational decisions much more then Rex Hogan and some of these others names that are being thrown around

At least we aren't the Bears.  I thought this was pretty funny.

As performance art goes, George McCaskey’s one-man show Monday afternoon will be difficult to top in 2022.
Playing the role of finger-wagging corporate executive on a 59-minute video conference call with the media, McCaskey lambasted high school students for their “Fire Matt Nagy” chants at Nagy’s son’s football game, insinuated one-time All-Pro center Olin Kreutz was a liar, informed us his 99-year-old mother, Virginia, was “very, very disappointed” in the Bears’ season and wrapped things up with a halfhearted delivery of “Go Bearsss.”
Say what you will about the McCaskey family and its mismanagement of the Bears, but it has retained a staggering sense of self-confidence, at times bordering on arrogance, despite a glaring lack of success under its stewardship.
McCaskey’s news conference to explain the firings of general manager Ryan Pace and coach Matt Nagy was not televised, a shame in a town like Chicago that treasures its football and theater scene. But at least the Bears were kind enough to stream it on their Twitter app, perhaps knowing it would become an instant classic with baby boomers and TikTokkers alike.

I want an experienced GM, but just for fun if we are throwing out ex Viking alumni, how about Corey Chavous who eats, drinks and sleeps the draft

He does follow the draft quite a bit, but he works for CBSSports and they have the worst mock drafts ever. Kinda feel like that automatically makes him ineligible haha

Not going to speculate on any names., but my feeling is the Vikings will need to ask each candidate what their vision for the Vikings is. How do you view the current roster and how do we get to a championship?
What changes in players and coaches need to be made? What scheme do you think will be successful? Basically, do you know where the Vikings are now and what is your plan to get them where they need to be in the future?
If they come in unprepared, and don't do a little research on the Vikings current state of affairs. I don't want them. If they give generic canned answers to those questions, I wouldn't be interested.
If the GM comes in without a plan, it will likely be more of the sos.
