Vikings get a new OL. Mason Cole
#31
So one of the things about Ezra Cleveland playing guard last year was that he frequently overstepped his sets. He was  used to playing left tackle and reacting to an edge rusher trying to get around him. If he stays at guard, he'll have to correct that. But one thing he did very well was pull, especially on screens.

If Cleveland stays at guard, it will be because they love how he can get in front of screens. Pretty sure the Vikings pull guards more than tackles. That might also explain the Cole trade...

Looks top notch, or top shelf. Hoping he is nothing more than a Brett Jones replacement.

DT eventually gets the sack, but you can't fault Cole for that. He held up well.

This trade smells of Jeremiah Sirles but it does sound like Cole has some potential. Happy to bring him in for the price, but penciling him in as a starter is another story. Kyler was running for his life last season, after all.

If he can be average, we can be happy. Welcome aboard, Cole!
I would have loved to have had Sirles this past year in place of Dozier at LG.

Didn't seem so much a hands issue.  Kept his hands working the whole time.  It was the fact that he ended up doing a 5 step drop as the Center.

I was going to say, he was engaged to give 5 seconds in the pocket.   Statistically is that considered, a pressure/hurry?

this is more of a credit to Tomlinson, everytime Cole tried to set anchor Tomlinson adjusted his rush to make Cole reset his feet and stayed with him as opposed to what we have seen which is an anchor and a whiff as the DT blows by and our OL stumble as they reach for tail feathers.
