Body control problems and shaky hands. both killers for aspiring possession receivers
It seems he relied on his talent alone. Before his injury he was a freak and made people look stupid. He had that nasty injury and he never made up for some of the talent he lost because of it. That shows no heart. I don't respect that. I was dead wrong about him and I wont miss him.

He can't get open. Its as simple as that. When he ran a what, 4.65 at the Combine? He doesn't have short area quickness like a guy like Beebe.
He gets open, not every play, but neither does Diggs or AT. His biggest issues are when he is on the field he is likely the 4th read at best on most plays, as he should ne with his performance history, but since his 2nd year when AT and Diggs emerged he has been getting less reps in practice and games and that will hinder the development.
I also wouldn't be surprised to find he has a learning disability. From the reports he puts in the extra work, it just doesnt turn into success on the field.
He seems like a likable enough kid and has tried to become a good player, it just doesnt seem like it's coming together for him here. Maybe a fresh start would help or maybe he will never get comfortable enough in a system to he able to play fast, but I do feel sorry for him and wish him the best where ever his career takes him...as long as it doesnt affect our Vikea.
Lots of excuses in your post. He doesn't get open, if he did, he'd have been a part of the offense years ago. Now, sure, he might be open occasionally but not consistently hence why they don't look his way. Learning disability?? C'mon now, is it so hard to say he's just not a starting NFL caliber WRer?
Turn the page on this kid already. its his 4th year in the league, he had route issues his first and second year but he turned a corner last year. people that watch the all 22 talk about him getting open, he does get open, he just doesnt have the confidence of the QBs and with his history that is understandable. I am not making excuses, but to say he cant get open just isnt true according to those with the information that TV doesnt provide. When I rewatch the games and key in on certain players on certain plays, I see him getting open, that isnt the issue, but the kid is burnt here and needs a new start if he is ever going to amount to anything.
So funny. You are making excuses. Do you think the organization didn't want him to succeed? There's a master plan conspiracy to keep him down? It's silly. He's had more than enough time to show his worth and he hasn't. His work ethic isn't in question, so that makes his lack of success even more obvious. He has 1 TD in 3 seasons. It isn't the fans bagging on the guy only, the organization is done with him and they know intimately more than we do. He's going to be replaced by a UDFA and a 7th round draft pick.
The only reason that a few straggler fans still pine for the kid is purple goggles.
who is pining for him? you said he isnt getting open, i said I have seen and heard the opposite from others.
i made no conspiracy claims or any other bull shit you are trying to assert here. he is done as a Vikings and I think he should be, but I am saying he isnt the turd that some fans want to make him out to be. I have no issue with what he was or wasnt able to accomplish, if anybody wants to be pissy about him busting it should be on the scouting dept and those that are responsible for selecting him in the first round.

From Wiki...
"A member of the highly-ranked 2013 University of Mississippi signing class, Treadwell played three seasons for the Rebels. He finished his career as the all-time leading pass catcher in Ole Miss history with 202 career receptions (seventh-most in SEC history) and ranks third in receiving yards with 2,393 and touchdowns with 21, as well as tied for second with nine career 100-yard receiving games. Treadwell managed at least one catch in all 35 games in which he played for the Rebels."
"Prior to the draft, NFL Network's analyst Mike Mayock ranked Treadwell second overall among wide receivers and compared him to Houston Texans' superstar wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. He also gave him a grade of 6.25, only behind Notre Dame's Will Fuller."
Unbelievably, this is the same kid that has:

Separation issues, dropped passes, less-than-enthusiastic-practices...whatever. Clearly the skill set he demonstrated in college didn't make it to the NFL. I wish him well, but if he has any success at the pro level, it won't be with the Vikes.
I think the reports of him going less than full speed are him having issues with confidence in the route. players that arent confident in their play book play slow, (hence my earlier comments on possible learning difficulties) he is on his 4 offense in 4 years so that might have something to do with it, but other guys are able to get up to speed. his college resume shows that he can catch the football, playing in the SEC he went against NFL level talent on defense. his head has been screwed up since he got here and he hasnt been able to get it right. change of scenery is his only chance now IMO.

run me through the logic how a guy has no heart if his skill is diminished due to a nasty injury? everything we heard was that he was working on strength, working on route running, wearing out the juggs machine. how does that say lack of heart?

WE may never know that for sure as fans...
But there's been plenty of smoke around the notion of him half-assing it...If I put myself in that situation in my earlier 20's? I don't think I might have handled the pressure well either.
Either way, his days here are most certainly numbered - unless he just burns it up the last 3 ps games.

even then he needs to go. I hope he does kick some ass and we could get a draft pick out of him, but at this point I suspect the word on the street will keep anybody from stepping up and offering anything for him. maybe a player for player deal if we could find somebody in a similar with a player that we need help position wise, but those are pretty rare.

Running speed in practice that isnt 100% when they already declinded his 5th year option says no heart to me. To me, instead of trying to work full speed and give it everything you have... He hasnt done that in practice where he should show that.
I just think he is a casualty of new offensive coaches taking a look at what they have to work with, along with a QB who tried to use him in the offense without much success. He is a good blocker, but I don't think that's enough in this system.

Looks like Tready officially made the 1st round draft bust list. Too bad for us and him. The team really needed a stud WR when he was picked, but they got their needs from a walk-on FA and a 5th rounder. Strange how things turn out. Seems like a good dude, and wish him the best.
Might be awhile before we see another 1st round WR picked by the Vikes. The last few since Moss really didn't work out (Flashy, Harvin, Lobster Claws Williamson).
I agree, the pitchforks would be outside TCO had Theilen and Diggs not panned out. Unless the second coming of Calvin Johnson or Moss is available, I am all for NO WR in the first round ever.
