Lunch shaming continues to hit the headlines..

The principal at my son's school noticed, on the 2nd to last day of school, that other kids were picking through his lunch box and stealing his favorite things in there. It's a snowbally thing - he doesn't mind sharing stuff with his "best" friend, but his "best" friend has friends too and they'll help themselves...

When we arrived to pick the kids up that day, my oldest was in the principals office. She told us what had happened at lunch that day, then had the gaul to tell us that our son needs to speak up more and that he should join the "Boys Club" to learn confidence. "This wouldn't happen if he had the confidence to stand up."

No joke.

Not entirely related, but i'm losing track of up and down...
put special cupcakes in his lunch with special frosting (to help with his (wink wink) special problem... the bullies will certainly grab chocolate frosted cupcakes and spend the rest of the day fighting dehydration as their lunches race through their systems.

How much longer will we have to endure the label "shaming" any time that "we" try to hold someone accountable / responsible for themselves (or others who are in their care)?

Weird, I thought Jesus was about feeding the hungry.

We're talking tax dollars.  With "Caesar's" picture on the dollars.

So are you arguing for Jesus' teachings on feeding the poor, to be included in primary education?  I'd be down wit dat.

You didn't "quote" pumpf... but can't help but notice  you posted your lame comment, right after pumpf's.
Pumpf didn't bring "religion" in this thread... you did.

Actually, He was "about" redeeming sinners from the consequences of their sins.  He didn't come to the earth to feed people; He came to die in the place of guilty sinners, so that they might receive eternal life.  All the other stuff that He did (healing, exorcisms, raising the dead and feeding the multitudes) were done in service to the work that He was "about", so that the people might believe that He really was who He said He was.

Thanks for asking!  Smile

I'm not a fan of the new term 'shaming' either.....but it sometimes applies, as some of the kids in this lunch program are being shamed because of not being able to pay because there is a stigma to it. But as we've discussed, some of the parents delinquent in this can pay but choose to spend their limited budget on other selfish things instead of being strong parents.

If you really want to be disgusted by some of today's kids/parents, look up IG models and 'influencers'. Ridiculous. And I say this as no fan of bashing millennials, as I know many that are very good kids and have their heads in the right place.

I'd be down with that too. And Judaism...and Muslim...and Taoism...Budism... how about you?

As far as not quoting Pumpf, it's a waste when your post is next. I often do that. Man, you righties are so sensitive!

It's funny how often Pumpf sounds like a Republican, but rarely a sounds like a Christian...

I'm no biblical scholar, but wasn't his greatest commandant love one another as I have loved you? I seem to recall that.

I don't know if your boy lacks confidence or not. Either way I suggest martial arts. My grandson did lack. Very shy and introverted. It gave my grandson alot of self confidence. If you find the right instructor he can help mold a complete man. Not saying you can't do this yourself just sometimes the right outside voice can turn a child with self confidence problems into a leader. That's what it did for my grandson.
Or you can go with Jimmys cupcake plan. I like that one too...lol.
