Thank God someone else on here sees the truth. Remmers looked good IN COMPARISON to Clemmings.
Remmers knew Minnesota wanted him as a stopgap at RT and would eventually move him inside. I'm sure he figured a move to Guard would prolong his career. It's happened countless times and is akin to CBs moving to Safety.
But Rick, Tony, Zimmer and Remmers were wrong. Guys who transition to new roles later in their careers usually have the Talent to make it happen. Remmers doesn't have the Talent.
Do you think a late career Tackle-to-Guard transition is more likely successful in a power blocking scheme than zone? Age tends to decline mobility more quickly than strength.

unless they were a more finese OT all along in which case they wont likely have the strength (or lead in their ass ) to make the transition at any point.
I think we will see significant improvement this year from last. Remember that our offensive line coach died right before training camp. We didnt have anybody ready to step in and replace him. When adjustments were necessary as the season went on, there wasn't anyone qualified to make them. Playing with a first time offensive coordinator, who didnt play to the lines strengths. Or maybe didnt play away from the lines weakness is a more accurate way of putting it. This year, we have a new, first time offensive coordinator. But, with an experienced one to help him out. Add to that a legit line coach. Remmers sucked as a guard. No one is unhappy that he's gone. In 17, Easton played well. If he is recovered, we have a left guard again. Maybe our new coach can get something from Isidora. Maybe not. We have the draft coming up to add one or two linemen.
We have a lot to look forward to. This is not a team devoid of talent by any means.

still have to get Easton to agree to come back to Minny.
Looks like he has had a lingering ankle issue and last season dealt with concussions. If he checks medically I think he would be a great signing. Especially if they can get him for cheap, only made about 6 million last year and was cut and had a down season. I'd expect him to sign for less than Cann got with JAX at 3 year 15 million.

I doubt thats too much of an issue. We are still an attractive destination for players. New stadium, facilities, etc. He is coming off of a significant injury. Our trainers know his health situation better than any others out there. No one is going to offer him a big contract. Maybe its just me, but I like when we have backup centers playing guards. Just seems as they know their assignments better. I think we have a very good chance to field an average offensive line this year. And sometimes par is good enough to win.

"deseperately need help at the position"
do we? is OT really where we are desperately thin? Reiff, Hill, Collins, and ONeill. I know they were working Collins into the interior last year, but IMO if we are desperate for anything it would be OGs. Of course we can just kick and OT into OG and we will be fine.
Not sure I'd recognize the Vikes if they weren't shuffling OLineman around every year. :/
I know. It's like a damn offensive conga line! It would be sweet if every OT could play guard and vice versa, but this ain't 1957.

fun thing about players that have had two significant injuries---they don't always look at stadium facilities etc. It becomes about how much immediate cash I can get as this gig might not last.
Easton and Schrader would be a nice haul for us. allowing for a first round G to round out the line
T: ONeill (Reiff back up)
LG: Reiff - Easton
C: Elf - Jones
RG: Rookie - Collins
RT: Schrader - Hill
Thats a major upgrade versus last year, easily the best line we have put out there since 2015
Vikings looking into signing OG Josh Kline.
