If Teddy gets back on the field, looks good, and avoids any set backs I wouldn't spend a first on a QB. Maybe a late 2nd or 3rd. If Sloter is looking like they expected when they went after him hard that would be a waste of a high pick.
Draft a QB in the first, sign Drew Brees in the off season when he becomes a FA. The team is built to win NOW

Which is why we need to find out this year what we've got in Teddy this year IMO.

He has a bone bruise. They heal slowly and are painful. But they heal. If Keenum can keep the team in contention for 3 or 4 more weeks, Sam could be back, for a playoff run. He's the most accurate passer the Vikings have had in a while, and though his career could be in question, it won't be from a bone bruise. Yes, he will likely need a knee replacement in his 50's, but not now.
I fully expect Bradford back. If that happens, the Vikings have a chance to be the first team to play a home game in the superbowl.
Waynes, Alexander, and the offensive line are all playing better, and despite the loss of Dalvin Cook, Shurmur is calling some great offensive plays for the players he has.
If Bradford can't recover, there is a possibility Teddy will be back.
The glass appears to be more than half full to me!
A non contact bone bruise...As in Femur head made contact with Tibia head, i.e. no cartilage/meniscus between them. Hence the 'unloader brace'.
It's degenerative and his only hope is micro-fracture surgery or early retirement (not necessarily this year) but he won't play until 40 like Favre and Brady.
Arm chair orthopedics is fun.....

Agree 100% If he doesn't have set backs I'd be willing to extend him to a reasonable deal with incentives and protections while Sloter gets a few years to develop(hopefully). I think he played one year of QB at Northern Colorado after being a WR. I think taking it slow with him is smart.

I totally agree with this. Brees would make them an instant legit SB threat.
When you read what Sammy is potentially facing, jeez, it makes my caring level for Erin's broken wishbone even lower. Sorry, Puker fans. There's always next year...

Brees wanted no part of a cold climate when he left san diego....why would he now decide to sign with the coldest weather team in the league and have to likely play at least 1 or 2 games outdoors in december? I don't see it happening. Besides the team will want to move forward with a guy that is already familiar with the offense. Thinking brees would come in and take the team to the SB in one year is wishful thinking IMO. the only reason it clicked for Favre was it was the O he had spent his whole career in and even then there were disconnects.

That is my thought. Bone bruise is one thing, but if it is a bruise because of bone on bone, which much of the meager information that has been leaked point to. Wear and tear. Result of previous injuries.
I am of the mind that a second day pick needs to be QB. If Teddy looks good and Sloter is progressing, maybe a 3rd or 4th. If not so much, a second.
I hear the built to win now argument every 5 years, the reason it's a constant refrain is because e never settle the QB position long term. If that gets taken care of long term the team will be a contender long term.
Just stop with the retreads, I'd rather spend a 1st round pick every other year or multiple picks this year trying to find that guy than taking these one year shots. 2009 was great and it's sucked since then, if Favre would have been 30 then instead of 40 we could have been challenging every year since.
Screw that Drew Brees talk.
