I think we all know why, but I'd love for the Wilfs to give a straight answer. His resume was so completely lacking and you bring him over from a totally dysfunctional Cleveland organization where he ran "football operations" for a year. No scouting or personnel experience in his background whatsoever. He made sure there were enough towels on the sidelines and that the hotdog cart was filled for gamedays. Why would the Wilfs, who are supposedly smart people, just say, "ahh screw it" and hand him over the keys to a playoff quality roster? He is the Les Steckel of GM hires and goes down as probably the strangest hire in this organizations history IMO. I was one of the few who called it an awful hire at the time and its played out as expected. To make matters worse they've further multiplied the problem by bringing in Grigson, a completely failed GM himself, to be his right hand man and "voice of reason" in the draft room. The sooner this problem is rectified by the owners who created it, the better we will be as an organization moving forward. I think they'd been pretty conventional in their previous front office and head coaching hires, and hadn't gotten the results they hoped for. So they saw the appeal of going the unconventional route and hired more of a disruptor type. Speculation of course but I can see how a professional, business-minded wizkid would appeal to them after years of Zimmer and Spielman squabbling and giving each other the cold shoulder. Not saying they made the best hire, but I can envision some of the rationale.

That's fair, but I would deem it to be unwise going unconventional at the GM position. It's like needing a mechanic to fix your Mercedes, but the last mechanic overcharged you, so instead you hire your buddies uncle who's dabbled in lawnmower repair to do the job.

I would say your buddies uncle that read a brochure on lawnmower maintenance.

It's not that Kwesi was completely unqualified...it's just that he wasn't likely the most qualified and the draft results have been dismal during his tenure.

I concur with that assessment and think that absolutely played a factor. And again, has nothing to do with the fact he is black or that his name is Kwesi Adolfo-Mensah, but everything to do with the fact that he just wasnt qualified or had the proper background for the job he was given. He was hired, the why no longer matters and since none of us have any financial interest in the team, it never really did matter. They own the team and can hire whoever the hell they want regardless of qualifications. Constantly harping on it being race motivated does nothing except make you look like that you have a deeper issue here, im not saying you do, but that is a perception you are creating.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

The only issue I have Jimmy is they hired an unqualified candidate to run the organization and the results have been less than stellar. All the evidence points to the hiring being about things other than football qualifications, but yeah, it doesn't matter at this point. Just hoping for the mistake to be rectified so I can have a little confidence going into a draft for once |
