Those spring storms can really dump a lot of snow. Hopefully it will warm up and melt off soon. Are you in Garrison? I spent a lot of time up there fishing in the past. Stay warm.
Hey Jargo, I am from Garrison originally but actually live up by Minot now. I sure would love to move to Garrison though. Lots of great memories there at Sakakawea with family and friends, and lots of walleye to eat!

Yeah, I thought that was the Walleye from Garrison in your old avatar. Hope you're staying warm.

How you holding up PG?

My brother is struggling with the snow, the drifting snow and wind.  Praying the cows and calves manage while he is digging his way out to feed them.

I too hope PG is holding up well!

Greediron, your brother's situation came to mind as soon as I read of the approaching storm...  I've been praying for the good folks of ND and for the ranchers + their stock...  Tough times...

Ugh, I feel your pain PG. It's almost 85 degrees here in Jersey. I'm about to break a sweat.

Damn, fickle weather.

Tough times indeed.  The amount of snow and then drifting is incredible.  The cows can manage, but the young calves are going to have a hard go of it.

we had one like this in western SD a few years back and the livestock loss was insane.  the wind came up and the animals went behind windbreaks and such,  the storm started as freezing rain so it cooled the animals, and then it dumped a few feet of snow and it basically smothered cows and calves as they were trapped behind the wind breaks and were drifted over.  otherwise the ones that ventured away became disorientated and just stood and froze to death.  I dont remember the total numbers lost but it was devastating for a lot of families.

Yeah, I remember that one.   The losses were staggering.

Luckily they have plenty of draws and trees for shelter near the badlands, just has to be about to get out to them.  Yesterday was a whiteout and he turned around and went home.  4wheel drive tractor was having troubles managing the drifts.

Hey thanks guys for checking up on us peeps. We ended up with approximately 30 inches of snow and my little town is still digging out. My son tried to leave for work (in Minot they are getting back to normal gradually) and got hung up about 3 car lengths out of our driveway lol. We did manage to get him back in the driveway with a lot of cussing and such.

Probably a little TMI but it’s funny TMI: My chocolate lab Brodie can’t find anywhere to poop! :p He wouldn’t go for the first day and a half of the blizzard, even when I took him to shoveled areas. He kept trying to see over the snow drifts and the wall of drifted snow across our yard. It must’ve been disorientating for him or something. Talk about constipated and confused!!! =)

Poor pupper.  Hope you folks there can dig out soon - good luck!  I would think this has to a record breaker snowfall, doesn't it?  I heard Minot was at 36'' and some rural areas had 40'' or more.  In Fargo we got about 2''.  Hard to believe we dodged all that snow.
