Haha this whole thread is a mockery my man. I was being a smart ass when I created it because we have read from you (sorry if it wasnt you) that Mac should be our QB and I have stated that it’s a team game. We would be playing this weekend if we didnt have the 31st ranked defense. Football is a team game….
Why would you mock yourself. Kindda weird.
It was me they wanted Jones to be our qb of the future. He would have been learning behind Cousins this year.
  1. When is the 45 million Cousins playing so I don’t miss his playoff game?
  2. If Jones sucks as you say, he can be cut and the Pats will be out only 3.5 million (and a first round pick). The Vikings cant affort to cut Cousins. The Vikings will even have to pay to trade him
  3.  Jones a rookie is in his first playoff game. Cousins a 10 year vet has played four playoff games and won one.
Anyway keep up with the “mockery” I guess
You have constantly pointed out Mac all year like wins was a stat we should be considerate of. Kirk isnt playing because we have the second worst defense in the nfl and mac is playing cuz new england has the second best defense yes, you are correct.

Again, I dont think Mac sucks but saying we should have drafted him is dumb to me. The need was OL, 100%. Mac has a solid OL, which probably helps his 22 TD to 13 INT statline.

Mac is a rookie and will get his fair share of playoff opportunities because his HC is Bill and his defense is second ranked in the NFL. Kirk has a playoff win and Mac does not, cant argue that
We should have drafted him as a security blanket (for Cousins especially when it came to contract negotiation) and groom him for the future like the Packers, Chiefs and 49ers have done. Jones was NFL ready and a better player than Mond (at least during the draft). That is what I have been saying all along. It is people like you who compared him to Cousins thus bringing in the win-loss discussion. I always stated we should have drafted him and let him sit and learn behind Cousins. The Vikings are today at a crossroads at the QB position. Drafting Jones could have helped answer that question.
The simple fact that you still can grasp that makes this argument pointless.
Lolz the simple fact that Mac went to the easiest NFL situation of all time without you realizing it is funny to me. We aren’t talking about a runaway ROY player here. We are talking about a Billy B robot. Mac may be a great player but getting your hopes up on a guy that wouldnt have played this year or likely next year for the Vikes means your argument is idiotic here, especially considering the status of Zim and RS who were fired. Why would they have drafted a backup QB in the first round when they were on the hot seat?

I think you mean well and because you did say he was going to be good I trust your evaluation but to continue to say that should have been the first round pick given Kirks year and Zimmers defense makes no sense
At the bold...
Again, see Packers (Rodgers, Love), 49ers (Lance) and Chiefs (Mahomes). They all drafted first round QB when the current QBs had really good seasons. Its such myopic view (that Cousins played well so we can't draft a QB for the future) that has held the Vikings.
  1. Didn't the same Zim and Spielman sign over 5 new players on Defense? So they did fix the defense (at least that's what they thought)
  2. Isn't Zim's defense the same one that is very difficult for rookies to grasp hence they seldom play? So the chances of a rookie defensive player playing under Zim are very slim
  3. Wasn't our first round pick on offense? Meaning Zim and Spielman were comfortable with their defense.
No on all levels. Zimmer was not happy about drafting offense in the first round this year, he made it clear he wanted defense. Spielman wanted Slater or Fields so again, Mac is irrelevant here, as is Fields as he probably plays 1-2 games considering how good Kirk was. Vikes offense was awesome this year, unfortunately the injuries, bad draft picks, and loyalty to the wrong guys made this defense second worst. Not a lot many QBs can do with that and it showed considering our defense tried to lose us every single game
At the bold...
You just made my point. I have been consistent all along saying we should have drafted a QB with our first pick once we missed Slater. I also stated, the QB should have been Fields but we chickened out by not trading up (because it was too costly). We had Jones at 15 with no loss of picks and we needed a "QB of the future".
I have explained all this in many posts here.

Back to your bold part.
So you say
  1. Cousins was good and I agree yet...
  2. Speilman wanted a QB and was willing to trade up for him despite the fact that Cousins was good
  3. Knowing the said QB (Fields) would not play much yet he was willing to lose draft picks for him to sit
Why would a GM try to trade up for a player he does not need who will not play much? Isn't that confusing to you especially when a pick later the same GM drafts a QB?

I understand your stance but what Im saying is its the epitome of hindsight. Mac has been fine with the Bill system, not Justin Herbert last year. No way Rick or Mike, knowing they are on the hot seat, are drafting Mac Jones in the first round. He wouldnt have played this year once. It makes zero sense

I don't think Mac would have been successful here with the previous coach. He is getting experience right now and hopefully he will learn from it. Onward and upward for the new coach and GM.
I actually agree with you which leads to the bigger issue... Spielman and Zim should not have been in charge of the last draft given how the season unfolded.
No doubt but they were and the numerous misses lead to the end of their time here. I didn't want either of them making decisions about the next qb, at least we don't have to worry about that anymore.

Don't care about Mac Jones at all or the Pats....Daboll's Offense sure outplayed Belly cheat and that is of interest Smile

Yeah I was extremely surprised by that. Bills offense was extremely one dimensional this
year and the game today made Daboll that much more desirable.
