The Pocket Passer seems to be doing fine.

About a dozen narratives came crashing down in this game. OK, so I guess Tampa's "this year's model."

Play good defense and run the ball more than you pass. Don't blitz and play cover-two shell. Oh, and make sure everyone's healthy.
And sign Brady
OK, sure, but Brady didn't win that game. He threw for 200 yards. He played the kind of game that Cousins is more than capable of playing.

It takes a calm cool QB who makes big throws, doesn't make mistakes, and doesn't turn the ball over....Check, Check, Check and Check.  If Tom needed to throw for 300 he would have but he didn't need to.

Brady had 3 td's before the 1/2 if I recall? Against a pretty decent D from KC too.

But overall I agree that it was a team win for the Bucs. Their D is what a really good D looks like in this era of NFL and they have a nice array of skill players.

Brady in retrospect was very smart to sign with them this year.

IDK, it's more than stats. That TD pass before the half was a spike in the Chiefs' chest.

This started last year when Arians was brought in, what we saw yesterday was just a point where it all came together.  BA put together a team where the pieces came together and that includes Leftwich and Bowles .  Brady, Gronk, AB, Fournett, Suh,  J P-P playing like they did last night you can't count on game after game.   Fournette may be the only one there two seasons from now.   I don't see a long term championship roster, the bucs personnel team, cruised the lots, and found some gas in the tank and tread on tires, for this season.

...aaaand, that's a wrap.  Amazing what an offense can do when the QB has a few precious seconds to make reads/decisions.
Im not saying our OL is adequate,  but the stats paint a different picture in how long KC has in the pocket vs other QBs.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/y...vanced.htm

This has Cousins tied for 2nd in the league with time in the pocket.  Of course it also has him near the top of the chart in pressures per dropback.  The OL could certainly use improvements, very few have banged the table for OL and DL more than myself,   but Kirk needs to help himself and his OL but learning to move in the pocket,  often he is a statue at the top of his drop and that doesnt allow much for his OTs to work with in terms of being able to redirect the DEs,  and when he does step up its often at an inopportune time where the OTs are left exposed to an easy inside move.  Kirk makes a fair amount of plays by hanging onto the ball and keeping his eyes down field,  but I think that brings a fair amount of the hits and sacks onto him as a contributing factor.  If we ever expect to see a Brady type performance on a big stage from Cousins,   its going to take a real effort to improve the OL and I dont know if the money or draft picks are there for that.

No, that Buc's team doesnt appear to be a dynasty. But what a nice set of moves by the coaching and front office to put that mix of talent on the field.

I'm hurting today if I am a Chiefs fan, but very hopeful for the coming years with Mahomes. Not to mention Hill/Kelcy/Elair and some really nice D pieces.

Not so sure about the Chiefs' dynasty. Mahomes' salary is OK for another year, I believe, but then starts to climb. Spotrac estimates them over the cap by $11M in 2021. Also, they have at least a couple guys - Tyreek Hill, Tyrann Mathieu - who could have off-field blowups any time.

Is the shine off Andy Reid or Eric Bienemy because of that loss? They knew what Mahomes' condition was and who was hurt on their OL, and didn't seem to have any plan to compensate for it. No second-half adjustments either.

Agreed that Tampa's current roster isn't a long-term dynasty either. But would you take 2 Championships in 20 years rather than eternal "we're pretty good" teams?

gotta win the first one to have a shot at a dynasty...  but damn it would suck to finally drink from that cup and then become irrelevant for 5+ years because of the resources that were burned to get there.
