Daviyon Nixon
I'm going to be really curious how Nixon tests at the combine.  I admittedly have not watched a lot of Iowa football this season. I know he was a JC transfer that didn't do much last year but tore it up this season: 5.5 sacks and 13.5 tfl in 6 games. Maybe the whole Jaleel Johnson thing has soured me on Iowa DT's, but I would want more of a sure thing at that position.  Kiper has him at #10 on his bog board, McShay had him go at the 22nd pick in his recent mock draft, and GBN has him 18th on their board
He’s a great athlete for his size.

I think he could compare favorably to Geno Atkins.

Had to go the prep school route and earned an offer from Alabama but stuck with Iowa. Flashed in limited time last year but he was a monster this year.

Jaleel definitely has been a letdown but Daviyon was a finalist for lineman of the year. When the hawks needed a big play he was usually there. While Iowa’s schedule was pretty easy this year, Daviyon dominated every game. I wish he was coming back but I’m happy he will hopefully be a first round pick

isn't about time we, for once, trade up and actually get a very good oline or dline starter?

It's not a great year for defensive lineman so there's no need to trade up this year when we could likely sit tight and still have a couple good prospects to choose from at #14.  Daviyon Nixon, Paye, and both Miami DE's could all be on the board depending on how the draft falls. Same on the offensive line where there is depth, but no elite prospects outside of Sewell

Vikings biggest need IMO is 3T. Right now, it looks like there is only one 3T worthy of a first round pick (NIxon). And can we trust he'll be available at 14? Too risky. The Vikings cannot afford to go into 2021 without adding a starting 3T, so I see us filling that need in free agency.

With that in mind, I see us either taking an OL (plenty to choose from in the middle 1st), an Edge (Paye, Rousseau), a QB (Lance or Jones) or trading down, recouping our 2nd, and taking a safety.

I agree but there's not a lot out there on the market as far as quality 3 techniques that will be available.  Leonard Williams is the best, but he'll get a contract the Vikings wont be able to come close to.  Otherwise you are looking at a retread like Suh or rolling the dice on a disappointment with some potential like Sheldon Rankins.

I'd love to see Lynch get stronger this offseason because he's got ability. Pushed around way too much this season and that kept him off the field.

Johnson when he was at Iowa was really splashy.  He would disappear for a game and then BOOM, big play. Like "wow that was impressive" big play. He wasn't ever really consistent even to prove that he could do anything in the pro's.  I like Nixon, a lot, but I will admit I am a little soured too.

I think Williams will be too expensive. I like Sheldon Rankins. Former 1st rounder, uber-talented, injury-plagued career keeps him at 2nd tier money. Saints can't afford towels in the locker room, let alone signing Rankins.

Christian Barmore is an interesting prospect too. Maybe not at 14, but if we trade back or so. The few times I've seen him he was always making plays in the backfield.
He has flashed a few times today. The tackle on 4th down was pretty good
