Good bye to Mac, signs with Cincy

Damn. This was a guy I really wanted back on the roster. Sure feels like two CB's will be drafted in the first 3-4 picks this year.

Zimmer the CB Whisperer:  Not.

Zimmer believed by his Players:  Meh.

I was hoping that we would be able to keep, because I think he is a good player and really took a step forward last year. However, he's always wanted to play on the outside (not sure if Cincy is giving him that opportunity) and more importantly the Vikings mismanaged him last year. His knee was hurting at the end of the season, but they made him play a full meaningless game against the Bears and he ended up hurting his knee worse and missing the playoffs, which certainly didn't help him or the team. I'm surprised he took such a low offer, but I wonder if teams were bothered about his injury and he's betting on himself with a 1-year deal. I wish him success and I think it's a case where the Vikings could have handled this situation a lot better. Now we need to add two quality corners. I'm sure one will be a high draft pick, but I really hope that they can add a solid vet in FA to give some sort of stability in that unit.

The guy for whatever reason didnt want to be here, and wasnt “cryptic” about it in tweets or anything like that.  Im not sure why he was all butt hurt, but he made it very clear he didnt want to play for the Vikings.

Well.........BYE

How many players does that make in this offseason alone that no longer want to play for this franchise?

Either the HC's act is wearing thin or the FO is doing a shitty job of identifying the right personality traits in the prospects they draft.

Half the homies are gone. Sad.
Well, maybe if you guys could've stopped the 49ers cave-man offense, they might still be around!

This is my exact reaction. We couldn't keep Mac at 1 year/$4M?!
We have seen a LOT of players leave in the past week. I was criticized for suggesting "blowing it up" might be the correct course of action in January, but honestly does that seem so crazy now?
Is it better to get a fresh start with a new regime, or to knowingly take a step back but regroup with Kirk for sure, and probably Zim, Rick, and Dalvin (if extension buzz is true) too?
To paraphrase Gus Fring, this offseason feels like a HALF MEASURE. This course of action feels eerily similar to when we needed a full-on fresh start post-Chilly, but instead the Vikings did the "safe" thing and hired Leslie Frazier. That just prolonged the mediocrity an extra few years before we did a full and welcome reset with Zim.

I do have faith in Rick's drafting so he could still pull a rabbit out but man. I'm just a clueless fan but I would not have gone about this offseason this way. At all.

this is where my thoughts are heading too.  all we have heard for years now is how much the players love and respect Zim,  that his approach is fine based on his relationship with past players,  where is that love now?  We are not losing offensive guys and kickers that he has always not give a shit about,   these  are his guys that are saying they want to move on,  if Griff leaves as well.... at  what point do we start wondering about out organization and its coaches and GM... or is it just our coaches and GM have a plan and are willing (finally ) to make the tough decisions and move forward with new people?

I know people have mentioned that he wants to play on the outside. Maybe Zimmer made it clear that if he wanted to stay that he would remain in the slot. I guess I look at it in a positive way. Maybe Zimmer said go get a contract that will let you play outside, but you are a slot corner in my defense.
