You guys who think he's getting anything in FA aren't reading the League right, IMO.
Mental health issues that fortunately did not lead to domestic violence. But with such erratic behavior it very easily could have.
Fell off the cliff performance-wise when he returned.
Has recent injury issues.
Played a ton of snaps during his prime.
Can ignore his gap responsibility and give up the edge on runs cuz he's all about the sacks.
If ever there was a candidate for a 1 year Prove It deal it's Everson.
whats crazy is some guy (dont remember who?) at bspn had him as the leauge mvp pick going into last season. I can only hope that the cliff one falls off happens to the packers lead prick soon.
So what is taking so long? I assume Griff's agent is shopping the Vikings' offer to every other team in the league and if he can find a better deal out there, he's gone. Which means that if he ultimately agrees to the Vikings' offer it is because it better than or equal to what any other team would pay. Do we really want that?
Seems to me that offers to restructure should come with a time limit: here is your offer; it is good for 2 hours. After that, we will make you another offer, but it will not be as good as the first.

technically he cant as he is under contract.... but if his agent were to hear shit from little birdies... well I am sure that happens all the time.

I don't think your first section is legal as Griffen wasn't scheduled to be a FA, so I don't think he's allowed to tamper or have discussions with other teams. They probably are doing it anyway though.
Your second bit, I don't think would fly anywhere. That would just create a toxic culture that would do more harm than good.

I am actually thinking of this the other way.... why did the team wait so fucking long to approach him? they should have had this in front of his camp at least a week ago if not longer. They had to have known all offseason they were going to rework his deal.

The offer isn't new. They talked about it all the way back at the combine. Unless he and his camp want to agree to push his roster guarantees back there will be a decision by 11:59PM when his entire base salary would be guaranteed. As for shopping it to other teams.... not allowed.... but nobody follows that rule at all.
if they offer has been on the table so long... why didnt they have a deadline set prior to the start of FA? Also I am not sure why Griffs camp would wait until FA started to make their decision unless they are planning on taking the deal, but wanted to sting Rick a bit by waiting. IMO it would have served both parties interests to have this been finalized last weekend at the latest so Griff could have been out there at the start of FA trying to work a new deal, and the Vikes would have had his money cleared to maybe make a harder push at somebody else they were targeting. Now the Vikes are still twiddling their thumbs (so to speak, I am sure they could close this window anytime they wanted) and Griff isnt legally able to be out shopping himself.
There probably is a time expectation, because the Vikings want some cap space to sign a few more players. They can't even give a deal to someone like Nick Easton until they clear some space.
