Wonder if when the dust finally settles after this years SB, we'll all still be saying you need balance to win a Lombardi?
Great move by Vikings to get Flip...Imagine how we'd be feeling if we didnt have a good QB and wr corps right about now? I mean its easy to forget we went toe to toe with the Rams and almost beat em at home...

I saw the highlights. That truly sucks that the defender will second guess himself. Sometimes they are going to have to decide whether or not to take the penalty. Obviously he couldn't take a penalty there so basically he was screwed if he doesn't tackle him.

Last night's game is EXACTLY what the NFL wants the league to be. Ratings are up this year because of this. I know its getting a lot of grief from hardcore, long time NFL watchers but you are seeing the future of the NFL. Innovative play calling. Non-traditional, less conservative game planning. Keeping QBs upright and more secure than ever so that those large fence-sitting, front running fans the NFL so desires will watch.
The Vikings are posed to transition into this quicker than you'd think with Cousins, Thielen and Diggs. Cook. Their offensive game is well positioned, just need to put the emphasis now on the offensive line this offseason. Don't sign Richardson. Don't resign Trae Waynes. Don't resign Barr. That's not the side of the ball where the rules and momentum is going as a league. How'd that vaunted Jaguars D look yesterday?
Read the tea leaves now, Viking's franchise, and respond accordingly this Spring.

the Chiefs got called for holding in the endzone on that play so it would have been first and goal from the 1 anyway... Brady doesnt get the ball there with 4 downs and not come away with 6 very often.... however taking a few more seconds off the clock there may have not left enough time for the pats to answer the Chiefs ensuing TD, but the ripple in the ponds thing... it likely wouldnt have been the same results anyway since the time on the clock might have changed the Chiefs play callings as well.

Is exactly what the League said when Jim Kelley and his no huddle Bills Offense was crushing everyone...except the Cowboys and Giants. And what everyone said about the Greatest Show on Turf but the Patriots weren't listening. And Brady and Moss until they ran into the G-Men.
The NFL is a copycat League. Defenders will learn new tackling techniques eventually. DCs will get a handle on RPO, picks out of WR bunches, misdirection at the LOS even during the play....it will just take time.
And.some team will find the right combination of players and schemes that will make.their Defense very tough. And the whole League will copy it. And.the Owners will change the rules to favor Offenses again.

They hadn't changed the rules then like they have now. There wasn't the concussion/CTE issue like there is now. There wasn't the kneeling for the Anthem issue like there is now. We didn't have video of Ray Rice punching his girlfriend in the face and knocking her out. And the NFL never had to face a ratings decline like they have recently back then. There's a fundamental change in society and fans. This is no cycle or fad. The NFL realizes that its not sustainable to have guys getting multiple concussions and have it not reflect badly on the NFL or even its very existance. Ratings are way UP this year so far with the rule changes. This isn't some innovation in offense taking the league by storm, its a complete league-wide rules change and philosophy.
If you think this is some kind of momentary blip and not a real change in how the NFL operates moving forward, you are REALLY underestimating it. Scoring is way up this year already. The younger target demographic that the NFL craves wants to see the star players, especially QB, actually be on the field. Not injured. Fans won't sit and watch garbage games any longer, the ratings bear it out: good/great games get ratings, shit games get turned off. There's always a Netflix marathon now more appealing than watching a NFL shit show. Ratings for good games are still pure gold for the NFL, but they've seen what happens when in a game like tonight, Green Bay plays a Jimmy G.-less team. The ratings will be ok, but nothing like they'd be if he were playing. Just because the old guard on this forum doesn't want to believe that doesn't make it any less the truth.

Viewer ratings are up. Not to 2015 levels but up over the last two. The NFL knows scoring equals excitement. Fantasy viewers want scoring. Scoring is at historical levels. This has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with viewers. Defense was killing viewership. When the numbers come in they will decide to keep the rules. Numbers being TV ratings not concussions...imo.
