That game was all about gameplan, IMO....and matchups. And Minnesota was both out-coached and out-played. Over matched in almost every way. Plenty of blame to go around. The defense looked like a high school team. I mean, this was just a HORRIBLE matchup for Minnesota. It happens. We could play them next Sunday and they'd still slap us around....the key will be how will the team do against them next year. Offense looked pop-gun.
IMO, I think Minnesota is thinking long and hard about moving forward with Bradford. He's the alpha talent of the group. They've seen what the offense can look like with him slinging it. Minnesota will be second-guessed in whatever decision they make, guaranteed.
Not sure you can trust that knee and it could give you issues at any moment. I think you have to move on from the Bradford idea if I were the Vikes.
But that arm talent...
I don't disagree with you. But that arm talent...
The arm talent is second to none. I agree
Zimmer said the team needs to elevate to the next level to get where they want to be. I wholeheartedly agree. Assess all aspects of the team. I think that's what they'll be doing. I also think a guy like Anthony Barr might be allowed to leave when his contract is up. Some guys shut down in that loss to the Eagles. I feel bad for Keenum....in his exit presser he seemed emotional about the team and organization: he LOVES it here. But he senses that the franchise is going to move on from him, that's the sense I get. Tough business.

I agree that he seemed to sense that he wont be here. It is tough.. You just aren't getting much more from Case. He was awful in the playoffs.

I dont agree Barr will be allowed to walk, but he's at the head of my disappointed in the players line

Agree PF...seems like a guy who lives for the splash play and when he doesn't make them he loses focus. Watching a big man like that try to arm tackle people pisses me off, too. He's got all the potential in the world but is inconsistent and seems like he lacks that motivation that his LB mate, Kendricks, has.

Maybe I am blocking something out, but I can't recall Barr shutting down. I remember one missed tackle where he over pursued and overran the RB. But as a whole, I remember the entire defense missing more tackles in this game than they did all year.

Arm tackling attempts is what I saw in the game on Sunday. Granted, I stopped watching the game after they went up 31-7 in the third quarter, so I didn't see most of the second half.
Barr wrecked Aaron Rodgers on a pretty great play and I love him for that (sorry, but I do ) But I just feel like he loses focus. I'm sure all players love the splash play but he seems to play his best when he's gotten one of those. If in the course of a game he doesn't have that happen he seems like he loses his focus, to me anyway. I guess when it comes to comparing Barr and Kendricks I just feel like Kendricks is the better player because he has no quit. Not saying he doesn't make mistakes as well, it just seems like a "desire" thing to me.
I'm just a poster on a message board so my opinion isn't worth schizzz, but I just feel like Barr is a bit of a prima donna and a coaster at times.
I do like Kendricks and his passion better. But I think Barr played very well this year and was very unselfish. He has the talent to be a high paid edge rusher, but he played his role in a very good D this year without much fanfare.
But something was off in that game. And really I think the team tightened up after that INT. The D tried to do too much and missed tackles. The O went into a shell. And as they say, fortune favors the prepared, or in this case, the team that was hustling. The Eagles got the bounces because they were in place to catch that bounce. That was our team, but after the emotion of last week and then the INT, I would wager quite a few players started to lose focus.
I doubt many of us really truly understand the nuances of what Zimmer is trying to do on most plays.. we get the intent of the way they play certain things, but the little things are likely missed by most fans. I have to defer to Geoff when he says that Barr is a big part of what Zim does, does that give him a free pass or mean he cant have a bad game... nope, but I have to wonder how much Zim loses if he doesnt have Barrs length and athleticism out there, how easy that would be to replace, and how many times do we watch a play and think the it should have been Barrs to make but he was actually where he was supposed to be and it was somebody else that wasnt doing their job?
I also question how much Griffs injury played against Barr. Griff was handled by 1 man for most of the later part of the season which changed how people were able to play off that side of the line which is where Barr usually played from.

Which gets back to a point another poster made elsewhere, if Griff was 50% or so, why not play him situationally and move BROB in the starting line-up and Danielle over to EG's spot?
That Plantar Fasciitis was obviously an issue for some time...
