The Vikings decision at QB is one of the most unpredictable I've ever seen. You really could make a case for and against each of the quarterbacks. There is also a chance they opt to looker externally at QB options yet again. If they were to do that they'd be arguably the top destination with the leagues best defense, a new practice facility, and a FO flush with cap space. The playoffs could change everything but I think at this juncture keeping the combination of Keenum/Bridgewater and letting them compete in the 2018 preseason is the most logical decision. Bradford when healthy has the best arm talent, but if anything the Vikings offense has functioned much better with a QB who can work both in and outside the pocket. The good thing is that Bradford likely would get a prove-it deal with a team which would net MN a 3rd/4th round comp pick in 2019.
The real question is whether you can realistically keep both Keenum/Bridgewater and whether both or either player would want to come back in that situation. Keenum could easily turn around and say that he has the opportunity to start elsewhere and shouldn't be forced to compete for the starting role. The same could be said for Bridgewater who'd also have opportunity elsewhere if he can prove to other teams he is healthy. Money also becomes a factor since the Vikings aren't going to carry $30M+ in QB salaries. But ultimately the playoffs are going to write the end of this tale. We'll take another look at it all again soon.
The team sees Teddy in practice and they are the only ones who know where Teddy is at. We can all speculate but that is the bottom line. Though practice is not live game action we know now (barring injury to Keenum) that what they have seen in practice is what they're going to have to go on when the off season rolls around. Weeks ago I thought it would be best to offer both Keenum and Teddy contracts that would keep them with us. This now seems like a pipe dream. It will especially be a pipe dream if we do get to the SB with Keenum....and....what if we were to WIN the thing???!!!
I have no idea what's going to happen. This off season will be like no other for this team. Let's hope that the edge will be taken off that huge decision at QB with a SB victory. I guarantee you I'd be basking in championship glory for a hell of a long time if my best dream came true.
durability has to be considered in the discussion, and as much as i love Teddy, that has always been my concern with him, even before the non contact injury he sustained. from what damage was described, its amazing hes walking, and he owes that to Sugarman and quick response of Vike trainers. i cant imagine he has the same mobilityto extend plays like he once did. strike one.
Bradfords two ACLs, are gong to limit his mobility / durability IMO...a great arm doesnt mean much if the knees / legs are gone. if his knees were bothering him this year WITHOUT contact....makes ya wonder what would happen when hes thrown into the firefight.

I watched Case last year with the Rams (we get their games here on the WC) and he was arguably the better quarterback between him and Goff. his WRs didnt help him much...seemed like they dropped passes all the time last year. His O line also last year with Rams left a lot to be desired. hes mobile, accurate, and seems like the game has slowed for him. each week its like we are waiting for that game that will put him behind TB, but ot hasnt come. its like we expect him to falter...then we can all say..”yup..shoulda started Teddy, or Sam”. QBs can have bad games / seasons, but little patience in the NFL.
Sloter also is more than capable IMO, and has a bright future ahead of him. no reason to think he wouldnt be a capable backup.
just my opinion...im wrong about so much though...trust in Zim & FO.

Early on I agreed that it was a pipe dream to think we could pay both QBs, but while Case's money has gone up, Teddy, because he hasn't been able to get any appreciable playing time, his has likely come down. With 60M in cap space, I'm wondering if we might be able to kick this can down the road one more year.
Ah hell, even as I say it, it sounds impossible. While Teddy's camp might be agreeable to a reasonable deal due to the injury and no real opportunity to prove himself physically or mentally unimpaired, I have a hard time seeing Case agree to a reasonable deal knowing that he's not likely to win a training camp battle with the beloved Bridgewater. Some team offers him big money and the #1, he's likely to take it and run.
The next few weeks will have a lot to say about this, but right now there's no obvious answer. As I said earlier, we've set ourselves up for a lot of success with great ownership, management and coaching, but it can all be rendered moot if we make the wrong decision on this one.
Try to wrap Case up to a fair contract, make Sloter the backup, trade Teddy and Sam, and draft the next Case Keenum.
That's what the Patriots do.
If Case performs well, Sloter or the draft pick becomes trade bait.

Although they can't trade their QB's they're going to be able to receive high comp picks for them. Even Bradford on a 1 year prove it deal outside of MN would be around if not above $10M which would net you a 3rd or 4th round pick minimum. Keenum would likely net you the same.
So even if the Vikings opt to keep 1 out of 3 on the roster they're likely walking away with a combo of two 3rd's a 3rd/4th, etc.. With the disclaimer being external signings for similar $ amounts would offset the picks.

Kirk would cost top QB money (probably Matt Stafford's 5 yr 135 mil) for sure. If they were able to get him for around 25 mil then that would be pretty good.
He has started every game the last 3 years, completing 1132 out of 1689 passes (67%) with 81 TDs and 36 INTs. His QB rating (from profootballreference) for those 3 years is 97.57.

I do not know if he is a top tier QB or not but he sure has all the symptoms. He did all he could for the Skins and it is not his fault that he does not play defense for them. The defense ranked 21st in 2015, 25th in 2016, and rose up to 11th this year.
I think of all the teams that could be looking for a QB the Vikings have to be the #1 place to be. The teams that probably will be looking for a QB are the Browns, Giants, Broncos, Jets, maybe Bengals, Cardinals, Redskins, maybe Chargers, maybe Bills, maybe Saints, maybe Jaguars, maybe Steelers, and maybe Patriots.
Of all the teams that are not maybes, the Vikings would be the most attractive as far as winning games.
The Vikings are likely to bring back almost the entire roster with some lower priced free agents maybe being turned over.
I could also see them signing Case to a cheaper deal (about 3 year 54 mil) if they do not want to spend too much on Kirk.
But Kirk is just getting started really. He has basically started the last 3 years and is only 6 months younger than Case.

Case is also a gym rat so they are similar in that regard.
I think the Vikings will come out looking pretty good at QB next season BEFORE the draft.
If they can get Case to sign a deal around 15 million or less for 3 years or less they could probably afford Teddy on a short term/incentive based contract. It sure would be nice to have insurance again next year.
I'm still not convinced any of the 3 can be counted on long term or that if all are healthy that Case is the best option.
