That pass defense at the end is something Harris brings that I haven't seen from Sendejo. I like Sendejo, he has been very solid on the back end. But coverage isn't his strong point. If Harris can handle the deep safety stuff, I think he steals the job.
go back 2 games, Sendejo had 2 nice pass break ups against the Skins IIRC. I think one was to save a TD.

Yes he did. He punched the ball out. But tell me you weren't surprised on that play. Nothing against him, I have always defended him, but Harris looked much more natural on that pass defense. And the wrap up tackle that caused a fumble was just a great sound play.

No, I wasnt surprised... I have said for a couple years that Dejo is a decent player and is overly criticized. He makes some good plays back there, but he isnt as fluid as Smith so he doesnt get the credit he deserves IMO. Harris made some damn nice plays back there as well, but I will trust Zims eye when it comes to defensive talent and the fact that he has had Dejo starting tells me what I already knew about the kids game.

Dude, you are preaching to the choir here. I have long defended him. He is solid and allows Smith to roam the field and put pressure on the offense. He is exactly the type of player we need patrolling the back end. But if Harris can provide that with better coverage abilities, color me excited.
And one can't have too many options back there. We have been very thin with lots of potential for years.

That was by far the best I have seen Harris look so... yes I am very happy to have him look like the light is coming on and of course the more the merrier when it comes to solid DBack play. I will wait to see it against more than 1 team before I am ready to say he should/could be starting over Dejo though. I am sure he left some plays to be made if offenses could game plan for him.
No doubt Jimmy. Just excited to see the potential, or at least solid depth.

I was surprised he did try and light the guy up.
Sendejo is stiff in coverage and not always where he's supposed to be in run coverage. Period.
But if a League Average or maybe slightly above that Player is the weakest link on your Defense you're freaking stacked.
But let's not ignore how many times Rick & Mike have tried to replace him in the Draft or FA.
Harris won't ever be as physical but if he becomes a polished Center Fielder and a guy who can single cover TEs that frees up Smith to be even more dynamic in the Box.

tried to replace him is a bit of an overstatement IMO. How many draft picks have they used back there? Harris? Wasn't he a UDFA? Kearse was a 7th? Exum was a 5th(?). Not exactly tons of attention to that spot.
That said, would love it if Harris or Kearse turn out to be that guy. In this passing league with all the protections on the WRs, coverage is more important than the big stick.

Geoff linked the Team to a Safety they wanted to Draft but saw Cook still there early in the 2nd. Team went after Iloka. I'm sure there have been others.
